Try loosening the diff covers.

I was talking about my ta04. I was told that the previous evo's were on the heavy side. I am really thinking about buying one of the evo 3's.

The screws and shafts are both tamiya

53502 42mm REAR SWING SHAFTS (Alloy)

And just match the screw sizes. All theses I get from Rainbow Ten in Japan:cool

use the largest one you can fit. The new RD ones are very nice about 1/2 the thickness of a kimbrough.

Before I get my Evo-III. Can anybody give me the qty. and size of the bearings? Want to replace them right away with low friction Blue rubber sealed bearing. Thanks in advance...

(4) 8x12mm
(10) 5x11mm
(1) 6x12mm

That was from TB01...but I think the (and if I'm not mistaken) Tamiya had replaced the 8x12mm bearings with larger 10x15mm bearings.

Guys who have own TB Evo III...correct me if I'm wrong

Took the car for a spin today at an indoor track (concrete with ashphalt surface).

Used the stock settings with 60wt shock oil instead of Tamiya oil. Used rubber tires (Take Off 27).

Powered with a Team Orion Core stock motor, geared at 6.25. Very nice to drive and very punchy coming out of the corners. Did not notice any torque steer.

Did run into a problem after a heavy collision.

Stripped a tooth from the front diff gear and bent a blue alloy universal shaft ($$$$ ouch). Looks like I jarred the propellar shaft which resulted in the stripping. While I had the diff out I put some ceramic grease on the front which may help in the future. This seems to be common with shaft cars (like my Barracuda) so I can't really fault the Evo3 for this.

The diff gear was pretty easy to replace but next time, I'll run the stock steel universal shafts instead, at least on the front

Thank goodness Tamiya includes lots of diff gears as spares with the kit.

The white delrin RW spurs are also another option. They are probably the lightest spurs you can find. Pretty tough as well.
