How do you guys measure caster? Does the pointer that is available for the Awesomatix also work for the Gizmo (https://shop.awesomatix.ch/de/access...-pieces.html)?

Thanks!

Andy

They only work with the hudy set up station. I use 1.5inch screw and measure it on any set up station. Or if you dont havw a set up station, you can use the screw and a camber gauge.

@Christian, am I seeing right that the GZ1 has the same Motion Ratio for front and rear arms? Do you have a starting setup on very low traction?

I am not sure, I have never calculated it. However it can be achieved by using a rear geometry tower in the front and the same pick ups at the arm front to rear.

In stock form, not quite. The front suspension has more up travel than the rear.

I do have something for low bite. Check our gizmo usa website. Funny enough the biggest differences in set up come from chassis rigidity and different spring rates.

If and when you have time and patience I can offer to build a baseline with spring and damping ratios to have balanced setups. Like these.

After that you just have to worry with geometry and tire alignment. You in?

Will check the setup posted, I have a hunch and a list of things to test on the car.

Sure, no problem. I would love to look into this and compare these settings to what we have developed though our testing.

Instead of rewriting everything again i will steer you into the spreadsheet thread and the measurement tutorial, I think you can download the spreadsheet if not let me know. Fill the fields and if the size is small enough to attach through here fine, if not PM me I will give you my email address.

First look at the asphalt low traction setup I see you are running the same shock package but with the front shocks mounted inwards, if the weight bias is 50:50 that's not a good start and the rear lower arm inner pivots are closer together than the front ones, I prefer to have everything equal, saves time calculating balance. Other than that no remarks to be made, thumbs up.

I will try to fiddle with it. I'll let you know how it goes. The issue with the front shocks being more inward is due to 2 reasons, 1. typically set ups on TC's call for softer front ends than the rear when tuning for lap times and 2. the lower front shock mount position has to be more inboard so as to get clearance for the inside of the wheel when you are turning.

The awesomatix guys have the same pick up points all around the car and they have tried the same wheel rate settings front and rear, and while good, they always end up going to a slightly softer front end set up. I do think that due to the fact that our car has the motor centered in the rear will allow us to run a closer suspension wheel rate than others though. Having the motor far outside really promotes a ton of rear roll and is probably why the theory of running same wheel rates front to rear don't often pan out. I am all out willing to try though.

As for our weight balance, it is pretty close to 50-50 on our car.

Thanks, really appreciate it.
1-agree with that, but I am going to work on other parameters just to see how things pan out;
2-forgot that,no problem at all as the spreadsheet can calculate how much spring and damping to have a balanced front to rear ride frequency. Basically with a softer front end the rear end will of course be the stiffer end and take a percentage of front weight on roll motion, overworking the rear tires.

Agreed, the Gizmo has a more centred mass and that makes a difference in a good way.

We will start around 50-50 and see how much range there is with weights, as the tires are equal front and rear i don't see a reason to deviate from 50-50.

Try this setup please.

My testing shows what I feared, I mistakenly thought that you could retain the STD roll bars, it can't.

To keep roll stiffness within range 1.0mm thick roll bars are recommended or no roll bars.

Default High Traction Conversion Kit

By my estimations, the conversion kits should be able to ship by Tuesday. Everything is in stock and just packing right now. Individual items are also available for those that may want to upgrade their arms only.

Will there be a full kit available soon incorporating all the new updates?

Thanks!

Christian

Is this kit suitable for low to med traction asphalt with hot weather conditions? Talking bout 50 deg C mid day temps. How is the flex of this chassis as compared to the original GZ1?

Thx
