Looks like it didn't go too bad at the ETS Warmup race at the weekend, only about 3.5secs down on Volkers TQ pace . And the Yok is a good car but it seems to have a very small window to get it working well unlike say an Xray or TC7.1, it's pretty much been like that since the original BD7 though.

What are most of you guys running in the rear diff for fluid and I've been told to only run 2 of the 4 gears in the diff. Please let me know what the go to setup for the rear is.

For black carpet I have been using 7,000 fluid for 21.5/17.5 set up. Guys racing mod go heavier. As far as the gears, that's news to me.

asphalt is lower traction as you know so you may want to play with 2k diff fluid

... is the 7.1 still a good car with parts support (thinking about getting one, with all the ones to pick from being sold) or should I wait for the 7.2?

It's still a good car. However if you wait until the 7.2 is out, you'll be able to get a better idea on what the improvements are, and the 7.1 will probably be cheaper as everyone moves over.

The 7.1 was run randomly by invite drivers at the Reedy race throughout the rounds, the new car is better but the old car is certainly not going to hold most people back. If you're in the market for a car today, the 7.1 is the way to go and some people are selling them cheap already although I'm personally keeping two until the end of the summer season.

Also, the 7.1 shares a lot of plastic parts with the tc6(.2 mostly). The prototype cars I've seen have been purely new aluminum and carbon bits making the standard breakable parts support as good as it ever has been since its already on the shelf at most places.

No, the TC7 plastics are quite different to the 6.2.

From what I understand most if not all plastics (arms, casters knuckles will be the same. As mentioned the 7.1 will not hold you back. If you race two classes, you would be able to share parts should you go with the new chassis later.

I am looking into a 7.1 and wanted to hear everyone's thoughts over the mugen and awesomatix. I will be running mostly outside asphalt from low to high grip in USGT. I know that I will get biased answers as this is the Associated thread but I am hoping to hear what makes this car worth buying.

Go with the 7.1 or the awesomatix. Both work great under those conditions. I'd consider the 7.1 because there's a lack of parts availability with the awesomatix.

true, the arms out are different, I thought they carried over for some reason. I was going through my spares and thought I saw a lot of 6.2 bags and I do but its dcj's, cvds, body posts and arm inserts pretty much.
