I haven't purchased the other tools yet, but I haven't had the car for long either. So far, thin wall sockets and a stubby ratchet (all of which I already owned) have worked perfectly. I'm able to grasp the damper and diff bodies well enough by hand to not need those tools. I may buy the tools down the road though.
The car is worth it.

You NEED some way to measure caster and make it equal side to side... doodles, pointer on setup station, extra hex wrench, a camber gauge turned sideways, protractor, a calipers + math... lots of ways to do it until you obtain proper tools.

Apologies if this is a silly question. IS there a way of buying a mid motor car without buying an upgrade on top of an existing kit? Puts it well out of my price range.

Dampers come pre-assembled, if you're content with the stock cst oil. Once you have the kit and see how things work, you can decide what you need. Don't let immediate lack of tool availability deter you. They will be in stock again, and in the meantime there are other methods available.

My understanding is they are for volume compensation. When I build my shocks, my last step is to take a 1.5mm hex driver and push the piston all the way down into the body. Go very slowly, then you can get the oil out as well. I think RC Maker had a video on it on Petite RC.

it all depends on the grip of the track I usually don’t use it , last Sunday I did use it,occasionally I only use it with only 2 screws with a 1mm shim in between)see pic) It all depends on the track an how the car feels to me

would seem like if the grip is real high, but i'm on the novice end of the spectrum when it comes to AX drivers
