The drive freq. determines how the throttle feels when you pull it. The higher the freq. the softer the feel, the lower the freq. the harder the throttle feels. Works the same with brakes. In english we call it PWM.
It one of the most important adjustments to make a FF work. I run a different brand FF but mine will keep up with 4wds.

I'm running Dynamite brushed ESCs in all of my XV-01s at the moment. It's simple and it works.
Huh. I didn't know pulsewidth modulation was even adjustable on ESCs. How does adjusting the PWM differ from adjusting the throttle exponential setting? I realize they control different things, but what's the performance difference?

Softer springs, lower roll centers and less camber in the front tires.

Fell asleep at the start, but was able to fight my way to the front and eventually make a good gap...

How did he break the idler shaft?
The only way I've ever seen to get another idler shaft for the FF-04 is to buy another FF-04. It's not a part that breaks every often (or ever, except for your friend's case), so I don't think TamiyaUSA bothers to stock it.
Buying a spare kit isn't a bad idea anyway. You can get a complete set of spare parts for way less than it would cost to buy them individually.
