Where did you have room to use a 1mm shim on the outdrive??

He probably meant 0.1mm shim. I used this on the outdrive O ring also to compress the seal a bit.

Alright, I just recently got a new 419 kit, what is the Spring brand you guys feel is best to run on the shocks?

Tamiya springs work. The new ones!

You running the stock springs at TQ?

greenpea76 04-05-2015 04:20 PM

Yes, stock springs work. I did end up with yellow front (big bore) and the stock red ones in the rear. AE40 wt oil front and rear. Car was really dialed (not quite "on edge" to throw down hot laps) , but needs more fine tuning for 13.5. Need to work on my driving lines and throttle timing.

Play with your roll center and camber links to suit driving style and you will be set. I'll need another trip there with just focus on that chassis before I will be comfortable racing it.

I'd be worried about something steel and tight tolerance (the shim) so close to the nicely coated shaft personally. Sounds like a sure fire way to wear off the Ti coating.

I used the double o-ring (blue) method with the 418 style (thinner) plastic guides and it when together neatly. No leaks. Yet. But definitely felt smoother.

Sorry niznai, made a mistake, said 0.1mm in outdrive.

And in the shocks I have a spacer of 0.2 mm and 4 mm inner diameter. Does not affect the shaft.

Raman 04-06-2015 12:17 PM

goin2drt and I are running at TQRC, which is carpet. 45x90 layout size if I remember correctly with many technical sections. The Yokomo springs work also as I did dial in a buddy's car using them, but I'm trying to keep my car TCS legal as much as possible, so I'm sticking with the Tamiya springs. I haven't tried the previous Tamiya TC springs though, but the new ones seem to work well so far for 13.5 and 17.5 power with the Jaco Blue spec tires for these classes.

I haven't run this car outdoors and I'm not sure if I will be in the future.

I've heard HPI Silvers mentioned a lot and see them on loads of setups.

Which ones are they? Does anyone know the part number and somewhere that has them in stock?

Hey drt and greenpea,
When are you guys heading out to TQ again? I'm going to try and make it out there Thursday for some practice. I'm trying to get my 418 going there. Saving my 419 for Asphalt.
