I was actually surprised at the amount of slop in the servo, however I honestly don't feel it on the track at all. My car is able to track dead straight on the straightaway lap after lap...

The 6.1 build had the small shim outside and the large shim inside. Moving the small shim inside tightens the gear mesh in the diff removing some play between the gears. It is intended to remove slop and make the diff smoother.

There have been a few people that stripped diffs with the original shimming so it was adjusted to make it full tight, all shims inside.
My new way is to build the diff with all the shims inside, assemble the diff with no lube then feel it. Normally I will move 1 shim back to the outside but not always. It really is just a feel for how all the gears mesh.
I do think that the old way, 2 out and 2 in, is probably loose but if you run 17.5t most likely it will never hurt the diff.
Thanks Guys,

I have since downloaded the latest Manual from AE.
Its different from my Manual that came with the kit.

It now says use 1 x large and 1 x small shim inside the Diff on each side.

I hadn't heard of diffs stripping. May be happening in Mod.

Thanks for the replies. Ill RE-build both diffs the new way.

Cheers

Maybe stripping is the wrong word but I have had the diffs skip on high grip with mod. So now I have modified how I use the shims in the diff. Diffs seem a touch smoother when the gears are meshed better also.

Wow, surprised they could 'skip' without stripping.

I've built them the new way.

Cheers.

Randy:

I have to ask; I think somewhere; though I haven't found it yet; is that you used a yokomo sway bar on your car. Other than the sway bar itself (I assume it is a BD7) any other mods to make that work? Did you find it worked better for you?

Unrelated question to someone else in the AE part shop: (Part 31269 Bar pivot mound) I thought mine was kinda loose; Why don't you sell this little plastic piece on its own? Right now I would have to buy the whole sway bar assembly. I guess if it became totally unworkable I could always use a bigger screw. Has anyone had to fix this?

Hi Don,

Thanks for the input and sorry for the spelling error; but the attached image shows what I mean. Unless the part you are mentioning are to be used with the more conventional sway bar as seen in the TC6 and TC6.1

Can someone give me a good place to start as far as gearing (64 pitch) for a TC6 running 17.5t? Carpet track, medium length. Non-timing ESC.

Got to run mine for the first time yesterday. Finally!
Really it's a great car!

Perhaps I got a 'bad batch' of turnbuckle eyelets tho.
I had three of them just completely split in half while practicing.
Not even on hard hits to the boards
Hobby shop only had T5 eyelets so I subbed in a few of those
Their considerably larger than stock
Anyone else have issues like this?
