Nice, what class do they let you run the 4300 in?

Gordon,
I use to be able to run with the stock class, but they got feed up of me having a the brushless advantage. Now I don't bother to ask if I can race in the stock class, I just sign up in the 19T Class.

Same here! How do think the 4300 compares to 19T? Let us know how the 6.5 does!

Thanks for the pics. Much appreciated. Gives me a better idea of how it might fit in my JRX-S. You had a chance to use it yet? If so, how does it perform (GTB with Velocit 6.5) against say a 8-10 turn brushed motor? Any feedback would be great.

Thanks.

Gordon,
I have not run a brushed motor since 1999, so I have nothing to compare the 4300 unit to. I can say at the last onroad race here, the xray w/ 4300 was placed in the middle of the field in the 19T class. I have a set of Lipo packs I will be running with the 4300 unit, which should give it that little extra go.

I got my 5.5R today and installed it into my xxx-s. The motor's got some mean acceleration and nice top speed. It is definitely way faster than my orion v2 13turn (obviously) which was the fastest motor I had tried before. I did run into a problem though with deadspots on the motor. Certain areas that the armature would stop at would not spin up again unless I manually moved it. I spoke with Charlie on the phone and I'm gonna have to ship it back for a replacement. Hopefully I get a brand new one since I just frickin got my package ARGH!

And so my wait begins once more..

Default Fan on SuperSport

Have any on you guys tried putting on a fan on the regular SuperSport ESC? Do you think it is necessary? I've seen pics of a SuperSport ESC melt. Just wondering because I've got a SS5800 coming in soon. Thanks.

There is a thermal sensor in both the motor and speed control on the super sport brushless systems. It would shut down before it could melt. The only way that could happen is if the sensor failed or the user wired it wrong.

I've run the ss5800 for 9 minutes HARD on our indoor carpet track and only managed 160ºF. The speed control was about 170ºF and the motor around 160ºF. If you follow the gearing suggestions in the manual you'll be just fine without a fan. If you going to go nuts and gear the snot out of it you will probably have more thermal shutdown problems.

For those of you running 4300 or 5800 in Touring, what differences have you noticed when switching from Super Sport Plus to GTB?

Breaking?
Throttle response?
Lap times?
Heat?
Punch?
Run-Time?

Alright everybody...I just got back from the track for our weekly mod point series and it was my forst run with the GTB and Velociti 5.5. All I have to say is WOW!!!! This is the most incredible combination I have ever used. The GTB is incredibly smooth and has a great feel to it. With th 5.5 I was pulling Putnam Ti 8 turn motors like they were 19 turns. I posted my personal best single lap time with this system and my best average lap time. I was running a Hara Twister 2 with a Putnam Ti 7x2 before this so I'm no stranger to good equipment and speed. The last thing I have to do is ask a question....Anyone interested in some really nice well maintained brushed mod motors? I'm never running nything but this system in mod any more!! AWESOME JOB NOVAK!!! No comparison to the Sphere/NEO 1 combo which I might add I toasted by 4 laps tonight!
