what tamiya body is the best for spec racing ?

Maybe you try the raikiri gt body. I'm gonna give that body a try for club racing. Think this body has more downforce then the Audi R8, the new NSX, Brz. I'm not sure, I just have to proof my theory yet. .I ordered it yesterday haha
Otherwise you can try the old nsx bodies.

61 Impala body, painted to look like an old school Biscayne NASCAR from the 60's era.
Ended up going with HPI Vintage wheels, but in standard OD instead of the vintage series types that would require the use of their spec wheels.

I had this same problem running this gear combo and solved it by rotating the motor to the next hole going clockwise while looking at the pinion side of the motor. You should always be able to rock the gears and have just a tiny amount of play between them regardless of the pitch. To much and they strip, to little will be noisy and create drag which will create extra wear and heat up and possibly damage the motor.

Thanks guys! I haven't seen one of these done like this before with that body, so it was a chance to be different.
All the lettering and numbers was painted beneath the shell by having a plotter cut out my designs on low tack making vinyl. A bit of work still if you have multi color logo's and all like I had on this one, but it's a very easy and effective way to get great results without needing an expensive airbrush setup for on the quick jobs like this one was.
The local guys at the track really liked it a lot

Companies really do need to pay more attention to the old school types like this one and those you mentioned Steve.
I wish they would do some more American bodies like the forgotten 73 chevelles, old novas, mavriks, vegas, montecarlo, even a fox stang... you get the point. They would be awesome to see on a track together, or just to have that old highschool ride a lot of us once had.

This trick worked like a charm for me. Many thanks! I have the xerun combo in there now, with the aforementioned gearing setup and it's now plenty zippy for my bashing fun. I really need to find some tires (hopefully pre-mount because I'm lazy like that) with more grip. The kit tires and dirty streets aren't a good combo.

Anyone got any suggestions? I don't care about tire wear. If I have to spend money on replacements it's worth it for maxing out the limited fun time I have.

Also, has anyone figured out a gearing combo that might work better on shorter circuits? I run out of street fast by the time I'm up to speed, so I need to find something with more zip and less top end to make things interesting within the bashing confines I have.

Yes, ...all of those cars were present and accounted for in my high school parking lot ...long ago. My first car was almost a Vega wagon w/ a Chevy V8 ...instead in went for a 74 capri which I put a V8 in and made it a true sleeper. My dad had a '701/2 camaro ...I learned to drive on that car. Great times!

Tamiya is more focussed on recent racecars or alltime classics (non nascar).

My friends and I lately wanted to race in a more fun way, not having to think about setup and highest performance. Just the driver and his box stock car. We decided for the TT-02 and had a blast last weekend on our first event.
Unfortunately the Raybrig NSX driver was busy. Still the pictures came out quite nice:

We went for Super GT. The bodies are awesome, but it took me nearly a whole day for the stickers only 😂

Those cars are looking great...love to drive the TT02 chassis. And I agree totally on the fun part. How is the handling of the Nissan body?
