I'm looking to install the Tamiya #42287 shocks. Anyone know what springs work with them?

Is there a chart with weight for the springs? Wanted to know how the #42278 compares to #47317 springs.

Team Associated Prolite and SC short course trucks. I tried racing them before I realized I should have got a truck made for racing.

tamiya makes a hex replacement for it anyway which tightens up the steering a hair.
Seth This is the thing I like least about tamiya. The base kits come with self tapping screws, and then most upgrade parts are machine threads. Which you then screw into ruined holes. :-/ |
You need to run a 3mm screw through and put a nut at the bottom. Tamiya sells a brass flanged tubs you can put in it. Not sure of the number. The Type-SR has a set of flanged tubes with a 3mm screw but I don't see any part numbers.

Low cost steering upgrade
I use this setup for my steering.
Tamiya bushings #50593 2 lock nuts 2 3mm x 35mm bolt. Get the ones with treads only going about half way up so the bushings don't get chewed up. Run your screw through the chassis before you start, and blow out any debris. I used the spare steering bridge that comes with the car kit. Press 2 bushings into it from the bottom. Press 1 bushing into each steering arm from the top, and washer between steering arm and chassis. Slide screw through everything with little grease for bushings. Screw it into chassis, pushing nut tight into bottom of chassis as you turn screw into it. Don't over tighten. Make sure arms turn freely. This won't be as good as a ball bearing setup, but much better then stock https://cimg1.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.rct...211cd1dde6.jpg https://cimg4.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.rct...ccb6eb4965.jpg https://cimg5.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.rct...8a7dffad2c.jpg . |
Looking to pick up a motor/ESC combo for bashing.
I had a 17.5T HW combo that was a little slow for my liking with 2S. Should I go down to a 10.5T motor? |

Are you running stock gearing? Does bashing = parking lot? 17.5 is a decent motor upgrade over stock.
Yes, mainly parking lot bashing and up and down my road. 17.5T was just underwhelming |
With the speed tuned gear set, you can run a 63t spur (#51609) over the 70t stock one

Best tires for bashing that'll actually last? I know that's probably an oxymoron, but worth a shot
|

I used the ones that came in the kit BUT they did not come with inserts. it took me a week of googling to find the parts. after searching Rc mart was first to order.. a month later got em glued em raced it didn't like the looseness sliding... went to A-main got some foams they work great. Amain has some good stuff then I ordered some stuff on ebay and found nitro hobbies .com has great fast shipping and a lot of TT 02 items rctech ,com and about ten others in the usa has great parts. google or ebay for tires

Don't forget that you'll need 26mm inserts.

Tamiya 26mm hard inserts are part number 53835, soft are part number 53834. The Vaterra cars used 26mm tires as well and Amain sells the tires with foam inserts for $13 either slicks or treaded.

Tamiya super grip tire 53214 made for asphalt.
Tamiya hard sponge set 53156. That's the only ones I found. Most others been discontinued. |
Has anyone tried 64p gears in the TT-02

Can you use the Tamiya aluminum motor mount still
|
In theroy, yes. If you're talking about Part: 54558 You'd need to adjust your pinion spacing by gear choice.... But that's silly when an adjustable motor mounts are $8.
|
Your best bet is to purchase the TT-02 high speed gear set #54500 and a Yeah Racing adjustable motor mount. I have both parts still NIB.

Hobbywing quicrun 1060 esc
Hello....new to the thread. I'm waiting for the TT02SR to be released so I can get one. I need an esc for it and can't understand the TCS spec/novice class rules on which esc can be used. Can someone tell me if the quicrun 1060 is legal or do i need to use the tamiya tble02 esc? Thanks for the help
|
Can anyone confirm this. During the tamiyacup here I drove my tt02rr and it was not fast in lap time. After talking with the A final people. They say that they were 0.5 seconds slower with the diffs of the tt02rr and therefore rode with the diffs of the tt02r. I think it's a strange story and I think you have to adjust the setup to get the most out of it.

Lectron 5200mah 35c lipo
Hello. Would the lectron 5200mah 35c lipo be a good battery for using with the torque tuned tamiya motor? They don't seem like a bad battery. Is 35c enough punch for the torque tuned motor for club racing on a medium/small track? Thanks for the help

In a 6 minute heat I use 7-900maAh so is drawing very little current. Unless stock ESC is such high Resistance it is higher current draw. Mine last one blew up so long ago I don't remember what capacity was used in a race. Now run an old LRP QC3. |
I think it matters. The larger the mah the longer the voltage remains high and then the speed remains high.
