Yep should fit. I run a Fantom 6100 without issue.
|
Thanks guys,
I measured and it does look like it should fit, not by a lot but thinking I am good to go. I ordered a pack up to see how they do. My 4000mah pack is dieing quickly, I ran it for my normal 15 minutes which usually leaves 20-25% left on my Hyperion charger and when I plugged the pack in this morning it showed 10% remaining based on voltage and them it proceeded to only take 2300mah.....I can't really complain as the pack has over 100 cycles and has a noticeable bend to it from a crash last fall in my RC10. Cheers, Jim |

Hi everyone, I come with a question after dumping few sets of tires...
How's the tire wear on your TT02? Mine one keep wearing out/grooving near the inner edge, it happen even on the stock spec before I modify/upgrade the car. Is this normal? This appears in all 4 wheels, front wheels appearing first and wear more than rears |

Just an FYI I am running a spur with only two fastener holes and I have 30 packs through the car with no issues.
I ran the car a bunch this weekend, it is amazing how much difference the ambient temperature can make on running temps. The other day running the car in 90* temps and 115-120* surface temps the motor was right at 155-160*. On Saturday we were right around 70* ambient and overcast, surface temps were right around 80* and the motor never got over 135*. I also think that my two packs may be getting softer, one does not have a lot of cycles on it but is like 6 years old, the other pack is 18 months old but has over 100 cycles. I treat my packs well but you can only ask so much of them. Can anyone confirm if the Gen Aces 2S 5000MAH 50C packs fit in the TT02? They seem to get good reviews and they are nicely priced. Cheers, Jim |
What do you guys think is the better value right now, the TT-02R and add a body or get a plain TT-02 with body and add the hop ups. I have no use for the stock esc or motor in the base kit. I have one TT-02 and was thinking of getting another.

The ring of death.....I use to get that with my old TA03 back in the day and I am starting to see it on my regular TT02 (none adjustable camber) on the rears running the Gravity/Ride USGT tires, guessing they have 25 full packs through them. I always figured that was caused by tire wear and the fact that the "tread" of the tire has lost enough material so that it is not as structurally rigid as it was when new to the tire is starting to move under the loads of cornering.
How many runs do you have on the tires and on what kind of surface? Cheers, Jim I am running on a local asphalt circuit, usually start getting such wear after ~15 packs so I am wondering is this normal. I am using GQ 36R racing tires so it had mold insert already...and guess hard enough |

I snagged up an R locally couldn't find any type S but I would go S if I could do it again
|
Just planning some parking lot running with my son. The S is $45 more than the R and I didn't think the difference was worth it. Is it?

Otherwise the R |
I think they are all really good choices. For just running around the parking lot, you can get a TT-02 for at low as $100. If you think you might want to race it, the TT-02R comes with many of the hop-up the TT-02 Type S does not. The advantage of the TT-02 Type S is the adjustability and the fact that it uses the suspension from the 416/417 that Raman mentioned. Also, you will need to get a body with the R and the S.
I have all 3 and I've been mainly racing the Type S. I haven't build the R yet, and the standard TT-02 I take out to an open parking lot just to get some runs in. |
So here are my $ 0.02 on the Type R hop ups, that the Type S doesn't have.
1. Aluminum uprights (3 degree toe-in) Nice looking but not needed. Type S has much better upright that offers better camber / roll settings 2. Aluminium motor mount - must have! However Yeah Racing gives you more flexibility for gearing. It's only time I prefer a non Tamiya Hop Up 3. 53159 4mm Aluminum Flange Lock Nut (Blue) Nice looking 4. 54247 3x18mm Aluminum Turnbuckle Shaft (Blue) x2 - nice looking.. but too soft and bend easily. Eventually you will come to the point where you may want to opt for the Titanium which are expensive! Steel ones from TT02S are stronger albeit ugly 5. 54501 TT-02 Aluminum Propeller Shaft - must have upgrade 6. 53642 5mm Aluminum Ball Connector (Blue) nice looking, better to buy the TRF fluorine coated 7. 54500 TT-02 High-Speed Gear Set (68T) Must have 8. 54502 TT-02 Aluminum Propeller Joint Must have |
Have both R and S and race both. The R, I use in TCS spec racing. That is the only reason I have the R.
The S, you have to upgrade the middle power delivery components, because on any TT-02, you should upgrade the middle. Adjustable motor mount, prop shaft, spur gear adapter, spur, pinion, and prop joints. However you do it... |
So I've got a little time on my car now. Not much but enough to know the kit springs are to stiff for three asphalt ill running on. I am running vta tires so what do I want to start with for shock springs? Right now I've got rear camber at -2 and the front is still fixed at about -2 give or take with slop. Also which springs are the right ones to buy? I have the R kit shocks on it still.
|
Hi all, I picked up a basic TT02 last weekend and was planning on using some old parts (shocks etc) from my very old FF01 (that is dead and I can't get parts). But last night I tried to fit the Tamiya oil filled shocks only to find that the lower mounting point fouls with the lower part of the shock. It could easily be remedied by adding a 2-3mm spacer. But before I go to all that trouble, will that cause other fitment issues down the line? Or am I dealing with an unsolvable issue?
This is my first non F1 RC car since the 90s so I'm way out of the loop with these things. Worst case scenario, I'll just fit the standard springs as the car is for my 6 year old son to learn with. I just figured I'd use some parts from my insanely good handling FF01. |
Ignore me, I figured it out. I was trying to mount the shocks to the lower A arm hole to achieve the lowest possible ride height.
But I did get a rude shock thanks to Tamiya. The kit comes with a standard silver can brushed sensorless motor... And a brushless sensored ECU! Seriously! |

That ESC works with brushed OR brushless motors. It also has a lvc that is no good for LiPo's only LiFe's so be careful.

How can I get it to run the standard silver can motor? I swapped out the Tamiya ESC with an old LRP ESC but it has a known fault which doesn't allow you to accelerate at full power straight away. So I either have to go back to the Tamiya and work out how to make it work, or buy a brushless sensored motor or another brushed sensorless ESC.
Here is the product information page that has a link to the manual and a video showing how to set it up: https://www.tamiyausa.com/items/radi...rushless-45057 Direct link to the manual: https://www.tamiyausa.com/pdf/manuals/58634ml.pdf |

I am honestly not sure. There should have been a manual in the box just for the ESC. I've never ran that ESC with either motor.

Is it TBLE-02S? If this one then the default setting of this ESC is to run silver can (brushed mode) already. The manual is wrong as it said the default is brushless mode.
|
Thanks for the feedback guys. I'm leaning towards the R for what I want to do. Some parking lot fun and maybe some drift tires. I'll have some 3300 brushless set ups from the new SC10.3 rtr I'll likely be dropping in.

TT02S
Anyone tried to run trf418/429 suspension on their TT02S?
What would be the difference/advantage on track? |

Yes, I tried it on the standard tub S. I couldn't tell any real difference, if anything it wasn't as "soft" but that might've been me imagining it. No lap time difference. Didn't try it with the carbon reinforced tub though, I suspect that might bring a more noticeable difference.

Summer and family has slowed things a little, after next week progress will be resumed:)

I'm considering buying the TT-02R. That seems to be the best kit for a parking lot basher like myself.
I like to install hard to reach upgrades, such as motor plates, during builds. Is there anything not included in the TT-02R kit that I should purchase for my build? |
Steering Hopups Tamiya #54752 (rcmart has them) and some clamp type 12mm wheel hexes whatever width suits your body choice. A 10.5t motor works pretty good with the stock gearing.

This was on a plain Jane TT02 so I am not sure if any of these parts are included in the "R" version. My car now has 50, or so, full runs and it has not really missed a beat with the exception of some self induced damage....Totally happy with my decision to go with the TT02. Cheers, Jim |
Something a bit different..
Before the knife came out..TT02R with a few mods https://farm5.staticflickr.com/4429/...2ece579c_b.jpg Optional hard white chassis...with the TT02R parts and red motor, it's quite patriotic lol https://farm5.staticflickr.com/4425/...aee2d593_b.jpg Front done. Carbon towers added while it was apart. Already had the steering and knuckle upgrades. https://farm5.staticflickr.com/4423/...c943599d_b.jpg Rear assembly. Another carbon tower, and Yeah Racing uppers. Far better quality than the GPM parts I had on. https://farm5.staticflickr.com/4378/...80150785_b.jpg Chassis complete with a few other white parts trees...Love the white!! Didn't think I would, but I think it came out cool. Body is white, so it all fits. https://farm5.staticflickr.com/4376/...39f832ce_b.jpg For the life of me, the ESC does not work with the BL motor. In BL mode, everything hooked up correctly, and it just flashes red/green. Tried several sensor cables, a different motor, even another ESC and nada. No idea what else can be wrong. |
The esc is in brushed mode from factory. You need to change it to brushless. The instruction manual is written in ancient hieroglyphics, so good luck understanding it.
You can call Tamusa and they could assist you |
Thanks Raman, it is in BL mode. Well, set to it anyway...I decoded the manual and it's flashing orange like it should (Green is brushed IIRC).
