Depends where and what you race.

High traction prepared track or carpet, it would work but is ususally used in mod not stock.

Loose traction parking lot, No. Some people like to use a spool in front on parking lots (it give good braking on loose surfaces).

Braking will only be on the rear wheels since the fronts will freewheel.

There are several manufacturers that make a one-way for the TA05; Tamiya, 3Racing, TopCad, Yeah and more. So just tell your LHS which one you want and be sure that the 36T pulley (wide spaced or regular) comes with it.

What is the advantage of using the rear Evo hubs apart from durability? I read that one could use the "3rd happy hole"?

If you are going to get the TA05 one way you will also need to get a 37T pulley to keep the same drive train ratio. The TA05 has a 36T pulley, while the TA05R has a 37T pulley. The TA05R drive train is adopted from the TRF416, thus the larger pulley. The one way will have a 36T pulley incldued with it, don't use it. If you plan to use the TA05 front one way make sure that you get part no#54023 37T one way pulley. The package for the pulley will say that it is for the DB01, but it is also useable with TRF501X & TRF416.

Hmm, I thought the 05R uses the wide pitch but still 36T.

It is the 05IFSR that is using the 37T

Has anyone had any problems with the static as mentioned in the manual with metal gear servos?

That's interesting because my TA05R uses the 36T pulley just like the diff that came in the kit and stated in the manual.

Did you get a 37T pulley with yours?

NOOB again...... lol

I'm curious of the difference as far as handling between the stock R and the IFS package? Can someone enlighten me on the differences. And which is better for a sorta aggressive driver on Asphalt. Thanks

Take you pick, either can be set up for an agressive driver. Theoretically the IFS has a lower CG than the R. But you can't mount one of the low front profile bodies on an TA05R.

It is possible to build up static if you are racing on carpet in winter with very dry air.

Thanks, So basically i want be able to run like the mazda 6 bodies on a IFS? just trying to get the feel of on-road ya know. sorry for all the stupid questions but seems like no one around here either wants to answer them or actually know what the heck there talking about. so in other words, there is basically no difference other than running different bodies?

The TCS rules prohibit and chassis cutting or modifications in the GT2 and GT3 classes but if you never race in the TCS then it doesn't matter.

The lower CG of the low profile front may make some difference. I have and race both, a TA05-IFS and aTA05R. My lap times are almost identical using the same motor. I just like the look of the EBBRO body.
