I run the stock suspenion, but mainly the indoor track, can be a little hard on the car, so the thought of running 5x9mm bearings instead of the more robust 5x11mm just don't do it for me.

I guess if you could come to my local tracks and show me back to back that the LWS was faster, then maybe I would think about it. But for now, I'll stick with the OG suspension!

Any one know if/when Tamiya's releaseing a TA05-R. Sorry if this has already been discussed but I couldn't find it in the last few pages of this thread.

Thanks for the quick replies on the TA05-R. A couple of pages back someone mentioned their kit came with the graphite chassis. Any details on that version. I haven't been able to find it.

There is a special 30th Anniversery edition for Tamiya, but it has a shortened chassis and some other features that seem to make it not intended for racing.

there is no kit at this time with a carbon fibor chassie other than the 30 aniversery car. there are a few after market out there, 3 racing, xenon and kawanda i dont know if i spelled that right. but you get the idea!
i have a xenon and i love it!
the graphit tub chassie works great also!
i have both! BOTH ARE GREAT!

that 30th anniversary edition is really nice its only the price tag thats really makes me think hard if i'm going to get one or not

That looks like it has a bit more going on than the TA05 piece does. If your just looking to go blue with the gear holder, Tamiya makes a blue version of the standard gear holder for the TA05. Its a little hard to locate the part number since Tamiya released it without much fanfare, but it does exist.

Sorry to get off topic, but I am looking to pick up a TA05 to replace my 415 since I am changing my focus of driving to more a hobby when I have time. However, I would like to compete in TCS and wonder if anyone has advice on what hop up parts I should buy for this car. I will be racing on the Tamiya track in aliso viejo which is an outdoor asphalt track.

What hopups to get(one ways, ball diff, universals, aluminum motor mount, carbon parts, etc). Thanks for any help!

I reciently asked the same question and Kevin Cole was nice enough to provide the following list:

Here's my must have list, followed by the like to haves. Steve at Speedtech carries most and So Cal is carrying some also. Ultimate also has some.

1.) Universals front and rear. Steel front, aluminum for the rear. 46mm or 48mm work. If running stock, 46mm are fine and lighter. If running 19T, go for the 48mm.
2.) Carbon front and rear shock towers.
3.) Aluminum TRF shocks.
4.) Aramid belts.
5.) Aluminum rear diff outdrives (like the 415MSX uses but specific to the TA05).

Nice to have:
1.) Lightweight suspension kit (same as 415MS or MSX uses).
2.) Carbon / plastic tub chassis (stiffer and lighter).
3.) Aluminum suspension blocks.
4.) Front spool or 1-way
5.) Center 1-way if you run front 1-way
6.) Aluminum steering arms
7.) Carbon steering plate

I'll be out there post Thanksgiving, maybe I'll see ya there. I've run the car once (at the 4 hour Enduro) and was amazed at how hooked up the car was with absolutly zero tuning... camber & ride height were way off and still it handled pretty good.
