I was wondering if someone could provide me a list of the bearings sizes for the TA-05? I want to upgrade the bearings before the build with Avids but cannot find all the sizes and quantities needed. I would totally appreciate any help as I am trying to get this build started for the TCS on July 9th in Laurel, MD. Thanks for your help.

# - IDxOD
8 - 5x8mm - 4 for Steering Rack, 2 inside each diff
4 - 10x15mm - 2 outside each Diff
2 - 4x8mm - Spur Shaft

Then,
8 - 5x11mm - Regular Suspension Axles
or
8 - 5x9mm - LW Suspension Axles

That should be it!

Minicooper..Are your friends running gt3? Tht's what I'm entered in. I also entered gt2 for some extra track time. I've never run tamiya tires before (b3) and figure I could try little differences in set-up during the gt2 qualifiers.

Could anyone here comment on which type of tire the b3's are similar to...36r's,cs-27's or whatever. Thanks--Al

I've just recently finished my hopped up ta05 project... I was wondering if anyone has tips and setup for carpet racing.... both for running stock and modified class... I'm installing a futaba digital servo, lrp sphere cometition, running either the novak 4300 for stock and neo 1 - 4 star for modified... I run mostly stock but would like to play around mod once in a while..

I think I went a little over board with the hop ups... the only thing I used from the brand new kit are very little of the plastic parts, belts, screws, center pully assembly, dog bones and diff pulley..and oh yah the foam bumber, which I will be replacing to... hehehehehe .. upgrade parts are mostly 3racing, Yeah racing and Top Cad...

Please help....

thanks,,,,

I've got a couple quick questions after reading all 145 pages of this thread.

1. Are the #53440 Hard Spring set the short ones?
2. Does anyone have a good starting point for carpet, 19 turn with CS-27's?

Thanks,

Jason

They're not the shortest you can get.. I've found that with those and the TRF Special Blue dampers, you can't get the front end any lower than 6mm..

You need to get the TRF Short springs, in the usual colours.. they're mostly what I use for my 05 and mini, and let you set the height anywhere..

On Road Short Spring Set
Soft (Red): 53630
Medium (Yellow): 53631
Hard (Blue): 53632
Extra Hard (White): 53633
Super Hard (Dk. Grey): 53635
Ultra Hard (Maroon): 53636

I also have this set, great for the mini and low traction areas. They're fluorescent Blue, Yellow and Red, softer than the short ones above.
Touring Car Tuned Spring - (Short): 53333

So with the stock shocks I should be OK. What about with the TRF Fluorine Coated Dampers # 53571? or would those have the same problem? And are they the threaded bodies?

I'm planing on starting with a 104/35 when I race next week. Hopefully this should be in the ball park with a 19 turn.

I'm just trying to get all my basic tuning options lined up before I get to the track.
