That BMT looks tight! I'd go GT-V2e pro unless you already have a gtp or gtp2e.

Last week I bought a mamba monster esc at $75 and yesterday a 2200kv 1515series at $60. Am I going the right way?

Lightbulb Suspension stop.

Working on designing a suspension stop for the front end. This will allow me to keep the chassis low and allow me to apply full brake with out the body scraping the tarmac.Chris.

Thanks, Its like a supercar, truth is I just can't use it in America unless I want to bash with it because belt-drives are outlaw in gt track racing. (Kinda funny since I helped make the original rules against them too, lol)

As much as I want to get a GT-V2e for top-speed runs, its a little hard to justify buying one when I already have that BMT sitting on the shelf. I almost purchased a new GTP2e off ebay yesterday for under $200, but just couldn't bring myself to pull the trigger.

Need to check on how much room the BMT has for a brushless motor. If I can fit one in there with the speedo...
I just may have to do it, I hope you guys can forgive me! lol

Sounds like you have a good plan right there.

I'd just run a car you already have, doesn't matter much as long as its fast! You have a motor mount figured out for that BMT? Why did belt cars get ruled out? To fast? Also can you get extra belts for that? I ask because brushless will put alot more power in there.

You guys see this? I put the Gt-V2e electronics in my Gtp2e ultra on 5s and did some drifting.

The belt drive rally game chassis were outlawed in North American GT track racing for a lot of reasons; they’re basically 1/8 scale on-road cars on steroids.

The belt cars share the same wheelbase as a GT car, but that’s where it ends. The diffs are fully adjustable to full spool with the turn of a wrench, all the rotating assemblies/mass & tires run the same direction forward, the belts are lite-weight and don’t induce vibration…… I could go on about this chassis design forever, its crazy.

The BMT I have belonged to a friend “MikaR” in Finland. The race directors over there let him race it on the track against the DM1s & IGT GT cars once and outlawed it for their GT class the very same day.

He said it was almost as fast as his Kyosho Evolva 1/8 scale car, also said it felt like he had beaten everyone at the track with one hand tied behind his back running it.

Once it was outlawed for being ridiculously faster (with much lower lap times) than buggy based chassis, it sat on his shelf for about a year. We were talking about it one day, he said he wanted to sell two of them that he had, couldn’t resist it, so I jumped in with both feet. Since then it’s been a display piece with another one for spares collecting dust.

I don’t know if it would be any faster than a GT chassis for top-speed racing, but on the track? They’re not even in the same zip code, not even close. Lol

Motor opening size is about 3 ¼” long & 1 ¾” wide, what size “cans” will fit in there?

Sorry for all the different brand talk, I know this is a GT-V2e thread, I have a lot of respect for many of you top speed racers here and hope you'll don't mind too much.

Throw some real tires and it ain't a drifter no more

Jspeed , I was just gonna say it looks like one of mikars rc's lol i bet that thing would spool up so fast to top speed compared to shaft and probably wouldn't have the torque steer when u WOT it . Transform that thing to electric since u can't run it on track nitro or E.
I have a ofna dirt oval , which is basically a,gtp2e but has the pillow balls , hardened internal ring gears and dm1 shocks upright , it's,alsom heaper then gtp2e thru tower with codes . Only thing missing is cvd's .
Also it doesn't have to kick down or up on the front end like gtp when taking off or braking hard

A castle 1515/1Y is clearly under those measurements, so if i'm reading your question right you should have no problem with a motor selection.Chris.

Thanks guys I really appreciate the support in building this chassis.

I may have found a motor-mount that could work and the battery tray wings; seems my Bro Mika also built an Edam Razor electric, he would know for sure if those parts would fit his old car. Check out the attachment, its one of his rides.

Down here in Florida its way too hot for me to play in the sun, but come the end of fall, I’ll try some top speed running for sure!
