So far very impressed with this sub-$300 car. Can't wait to wheel it.

I'm running my new second S1 in USGT. I can not get a handle on it with the HPI X-patterns, either belted or non-belted.
But since my VTA car handles great, I slapped four 26mm (front) vintage tires on it and it was right back to being the sweet handling S1 that I know and love.
Next week I'll try it with new vintage tires and see what happens.

In the middle of assembling my R1 now, and found the outdrive shaft of the diff has .4+ mm of play. Is this normal, or should it be shimmed up for less play?

i have run mine with the play all the time, havent had a problem, more than the leaking part (leaks where the diff halves goes togheter)

Did you sand down the male half to close the gap between the diff halves? It was one of the recommendations earlier in this thread. Along with using green slime on the o ring. I didn't want to button up my diff if I should get some spacers to get less end play.

yes i have sanded the diff, i have tried tamiya aw grease, green slime and black grease and its still leaking, not as much as before but still leaking... but its the only thing i dont like with the car, so i can live with it, might change it to a xraydiff later

I hope mine seals up okay!

I put 80wt shock oil in my rear diff. Not leaking. Don't know if that is because I sealed it well or it is dry in there!

A smidge under full is where you want to be on your diffs. I basically wet the rear diff with some 20k Losi fluid. Sticky enough for a little action, nothing crazy. Feels like shock oil, without all the fluid to potentially leak.

think im going to put a thin coat of 500k diffoil between the halves, worth a try

I reamed the suspension arms, got them to feel real nice and drop with their own weight easily but without any slop. After tightening down the attach points to the chassis, they stay where you put them... Not hard to move them, but they won't drop under their own weight. Is this something that will wear in, or do I need to remove some material off the sides to free them up some? This is an R1, not an S1... thanks.
