Ok folks,

I've got a question about tire treatment for Asphalt. What is the choice Protoform tire treatment for asphalt. My HPIs hook up great, but they are about worn out and I'm going to race on Protoforms until I can get some other HPIs. I know some guys can get these tires to hook up on asphalt. What's the trick?

Do you have tire warmers?

I have I’ve found the best thing is actually almost nothing.

If if you have warmers, just cycle them three 4-5, 8-10 minutes cycles on a fairly high temp. Coat with SXT MAX between cycles. Once complete, clean with non Chlorinated brake cleaner, then run. Don’t put any additive on them for race day. It ends up just making the tires greasy and they swell too quickly. It also makes them inconsistent if you can’t repeat the exact same routine. With this method you’ll need to adjust you suspension and and driving a bit, but it gives the most consistent times and makes the tires last a fairly long time.

Hello, looking at racing my old TC4 in VTA for fun. How long do VTA tires last? Going to run 2 club races a month, on asphalt. Thanks!

does the track require the Protoform VTA Tires, or are Hpi allowed?

I know what I'm doing!

If you're debating on going, do yourself a favor and go. This is one of those events you must attend. Facility is top notch! Hobby Shop has all (and I do mean ALL) the right parts, tools, bodies, etc. a person could ask for! Skill levels of all types.

Not to mention, they provide an amazing dinner that Saturday evening for the racers! (Get in my belly!)

I got 2 seasons out of my Protoforms racing 2-3x per month from April to about Sept each season.
I'd say somewhere between 1-2yrs depending on how long your season is.

Hey what motors you guys running?
I have had the Motiv MC2 in my VTA. I think I have 3 seasons on it now. I am looking for a new motor, I ran against a guy who had the R1 V21 last week. Its "pending" roar approval, but it seemed fast. Also looking at the Trinity XFactor and perhaps the Motiv MC3. My lap times are consistent and really am looking for a top motor in this class. My Motiv MC2 has done well, but its apparent the newer motors are a bit faster as my car is off about 1/2 a lap in an 8min heat. It wasn't like that last year, ...I think my Motiv MC2 was still competitive then.

Default S +Plus 25.5 is a MINIS!

Getting blowed away by fantoms, reedy M3's, surpass, even speedpassion..and let's NOT mention xfactors and Mc3's! How in the heck can I get any speed out of this thing! Timing is 38 degrees. Ran 92/43-49 on my tc6.1 worlds. Track has 110 foot straight (Kannapolis Raceway Park on Facebook for pics). Oh sorry! Hello vta racers!
now back to it....I have the long alloy screws installed and the car is right on weight. From what I've been researching, the motor is not like the run of the mill 25.5...so I thought "just treat it like the old reedy rage brushed motor and you should be fine!" As the rage was a revver too and it needed strange and unusual gearing to perform which suits me just fine...but this one here tho! Wish I can get a refund but my hobby shop wont do it. Thanks in advance...signed #nothappy

Don't know what motor you got, but a 110' straight is gonna need a lot more gear then you've given it.
