I feel that it is my duty as a racer to help everybody that has less knowledge than I do to out perform me. Then and only then have I done my job as a steward of the hobby. There are far too many out there that look at rookies as nothing more than turn marshals so their carbo loaded a$$es don't have to get off the chair to do anything but drive.

I for one will help anyone anytime I have the time. I will even observe racers and offer my help if I think it will. That is the spirit of the hobby.

Being active on forums shows that. But there only 100-150 of us here. Most don’t seem to be interested in forums anymore.

Didnt mean to side track things. Other threads for these kinds of discussions. Back to VTA

I can not stand Facebook. I hate the layout and find it horribly clunky. Most of all though is that Facebook does not deserve my business.

I agree and trying to buy or sell on there is terrible, rip offs are rampant. There are a few specific closed groups that are ok, but I still like the forums, maybe I'm old fashioned? LOL

I couldn't agree more with both of you. I can use RC tech (or any similar forum) to go back and retrieve needed technical info from years and years ago. Contrast that with the fact that it can be challenging to find things posted only yesterday on some FB pages and groups. Lots of good information will just disappear down the FB hole at some point.

To me the worst thing about the poison potion that is social media is the fact that they make it anywhere from extremely difficult to impossible to see anything on there unless you take an unhealthy drink and open yourself up to identity theft plus any number of other unpleasantness just to see what someone had for breakfast or what their dog left in a neighbor's yard.

It has become terrible to keep up with what is happening at different tracks because of the laziness of thinking somebody else will do it. Kind of like life depicted in the movie WALL-E.

I think the trick with Facebook is don’t friend people. Brands or groups only.Keep it RC related only. It’s the way the brands are giving info. I only friend the people I race with. It’s the easiest way to stay in contact.

I get very little garage posts. Had to block one persons posts, but still get his comments on my RC stuff, I just don’t have to see his non RC stuff.

I’ve bought twice though Facebook. Both were members here that ran established RC sales business.

You can protect yourself 28 ways to Sunday and all it takes is for one person that you routinely deal with that isn't as cautious and you have the bug. It's like AIDS. You are linked to everyone that has had contact with anyone else.

They are too grumpy to take a joke. Surprised nobody complained about the lack of headlight decals.
