yup, the diff does wonders to the car, making it a formidable contender. Those steel diffs was slowing me down for a number of races before I got them and was able to keep up with faster cars out of corners without problem now. It is when out of corners where this difference is greatly felt.

Dudes,
does anyone run 48 pitch gears for the TA04? I'd appreciate a list of compatible spurs/pinions. I bought a 112/34 64p in hopes of getting a 7:1 FDR and guess what?! THEY DON'T MESH!

This is my only major grip on this car, my TB01 could adapt to virtually any combo I like given the motor can swivel.

Talk about new found respect, I was running a MR4-SP edition for about 8 months, it was a love/hate relationship. It was a very fast and agile car, a little on the delicate side, with no major problems except the MR4 belts are only about 3mm wide, and will tear up in a heart beat! I was reading on the new Altezza TA04-R in R/C car, and fell in love with the body, plus they raved on its performance to boot. I started thinking of the good old days when I had a Hornet for my first car, A grasshopper was next, then a lunchbox was my first truck. I have always had a soft spot for my first R/C, But Since those days of glory I was racing Losi's, Associated, Yokomo type cars, the Tamiya just seemed like it was just a toy for beginners to bash around with, Boy was I wrong ! I found a Altezza kit and quickly grew to respect its performance, and now needless to say the MR4 was shown the door This Tamiya car is soooo easy to drive fast its not funny. It cuts inside corners so well, that sometimes I have to stop and do the same corner over again just to see how well this car drives! I'm so impressed in fact I bought a TA04 pro on sale at ultimatehobbies, it will be my parts mule. The Altezza is going through the "works" mode now with the full graphite treatment, shock stays, lower plate, Aluminum racing steering, and will be getting the delron outdrives as well. Is it worth it? Heck Ya! Anyone reading this wanting to know if Tamiya can compete, I'm here to tell ya its a very well ballanced, fast, and is turning heads at my local track, especially when I throw that carbon looking Altezza body on !

hobbipro - glad you are enjoying your ride! I am particularly enjoying playing with setups on my car, not a good driver yet.

OTOH, I found this japanese site listing, possible, 48P gear ratios!

I will be getting a 7:1 48P gears to try. If they mesh I'd rather run 48P.

Hey 04'ers,
I am having minor problems with the rear anti roll bar, it does not seem to work at all. The front roll bar seems to do its duty i.e. when I add a blue bar to the front (rear attached, but not connected to ball cap), the car seems to have lesser steering. Attaching the blue does not seem to change the characteristics. If I use the blue alone, once again I do not see much difference in handling.

Any thoughts on this? The shock setup I have is 50wt f/r, and the front has the white (hardest) spring up front, rear has the blue (2nd hardest).

Hmm, I don't know. On my TA04R, it is very responsive to setup changes, especially sway bars. Once, i was running a blue/none setup (front/rear) then I tried a blue/red stabilizer setup and I could easily feel the car became more responsive and the car felt better.

Aurra Sing, could you post your shock settings? BTW, with the rear shocks off, the opposite suspenion arm only raises up if if the opposite suspension arm is raised to a pretty high height. I'm pretty sure I followed the manual close enough

Try loosening the grub screws that hold the sway bars on gear box. Screwing them too far down will limit the travel too.

GKC - will try so! Thanks. What do the grub screw do anyway? I tightened them such that the ARB will still "work" yet not be binding.
