I already have a ton of ball diff hardware . None of my other cars have a gear diff, and I want to keep it that way .

My gear dif works flawless!
http://www.youtube.com/user/Mantiswo.../7/2gQfVTzJJNQ a high power motor with foam and a sticky track will end up in disaster. maybe with silver cans and maybe 13.5 but anything more than that will just end up in burned up pcs! or end up rebuilding every weekend. direct drive is not the same as IRS. that vid was 3s 17.5, the car now has a 4.5.
how can you compare a nikko gear dif to 3r's dif?

I'm with Mantis here. This is a substantial difference in quality.

The Nikko f1 pro web gears are made of steel, and have never been chewed up, but the forces flexed the plastic housing enough to cause the gears to lose contact. If the housing was also made of steel, then it could handle anything.

I also want to point out that the Nikko f1 diff gears never blew up while running the car, but they made a loud popping sound when I free revved it . Also my Nikko f1 was much faster in a straight line than that F1 in the video, although it didn't handle as good at all....All that is in the past now that I've replaced the Nikko F1 with the FGX F1 !!! Can't wait to get it......

My Nikko F1 was a Novak 4.5 gtb geared 4.999fdr with 65mm rear rubber tires. I never clocked it, but no 8scale could catch it once I punched it . It must have been going 80+mph, but don't turn... With a 530watt/9000kv motor geared 4.99 to 1, and 65mm tires, you're looking at 85+mph...

I hope I could replicate that setup with the FGX, and hopefully it will handle....

How you can compare Nikko "some metal" gear diff with 3 racing? Nikko is only (not much) better toy, there is big difference in quality...

Anyway, if you want run car on straight 80mph+ you dont need independent suspension or differential... FGX was made for circuit, for better turning with "normal" motor

Don't hate just because I was the only one to do it... It is now in the past, and I've happily moved to the FGX . That doesn't mean I won't be passing any 8scales soon. I think I'll be lapping them over and over instead....lol....
