does anybody have any suggestions?
You might have to dremmel the rear part as well. I used the hard case batteries from rcmarket and the only thing i had to do was cut the to edge off the battery. you should check out the site.

i did dremal the rear in the pic i didnt but i just did i little bit ago and it still doesnt fit
its kind of hard to see where the battery is hangin up. From what i can see in the pic, I would say you have to shave more of the plastic in the back.
here is some pics of mine. as you can see the center section is still original and the back has been shaved a bit. the back was shaved so it would fit the NIMH six cells. All i did was remove the top piece off the lipo, cut the corners off, glued it back on with shoe goo, filled the corners with shoes goo, and taped them off to hold the goo. The battery fits perfect. These batteries are 136mmx44mmx17mm 3500 25c. the orions are 136mmx47mmx22mm. As you can see there is 5mm difference in height which make a big difference. the lipo make fit without mod since your vehicle has been cut already. here is the link if your interested.http://rcmarket.com.hk/product_info....oducts_id=4617. i am going to buy another lipo so i will post pics of the mod when i get it.

If you look at Kcunamay's 3800 install you'll see you need to remove more material from the rear bulks to get the 3800 to fit. With the 3400 you don't need to remove much material from the rear bulks. The 3800 is really a tight squeeze, I've seen his car in person.

My gtb doesn't like the 3.5 fdr with a 17.5 and it thermal shut off at approx. 6.5 mins. Not having my pinions I bought a diff. spur at the track and got it up to 3.85. It was way more responsive and my times showed it as I got them down in the low 11's. For any newbies I would start closer to 4.0 and you'll probably settle in around the 3.8 mark. my .02 worth. If any one wants to try my set up let me know and I will post it.
I've got the 118 spur now.
The 3800 does fit, it just needs a lot more massaging. My pack stays mounted in the vehicle at all times. I could take it out, but have no need to.
Looks like you did all of the dremeling needed aside from a little bit on the sides of the pack to clear the pulley's. You might want to massage a lttle bit off of the the top of the pack (opposite end of the plug side) to clear the motor mount. Uncrew the 4 bolts that hold down the rear bulkhead and the 4 that hold the 4 posts to insert the battery. You want the pack to fit in the chassis and not rub on the pulleys at all. Once the pack is in, you have to do some shaving on the battery tray for it to seal flat.
It's a lot of dremel work, but totally worth the effort once its done. Fit the battery, see where it rubs, dremel and try again. My pack fits in perfectly with no rubbing, stress on any parts, and does not place any tweak on the chassis at all. It is still completely flat.
Good luck!

Can any help with a question.
Is there a kit available to change a JRXS to a JRXS type R?
If not what is needed for the conversion?

What is need is you go to your LHS and just buy a Type R kit. There are only a few things interchangeable between the two cars. The layout of the cars is completely different and there are no conversion kits. Chassis's are not the same either.
