What motor r u running and how much timing? If you aren't running a lot of timing and your track flows well your could probably get away with 4.5 or 5.0 fdr. Also see what others at your track are running for fdr. You can generally getaway with one tooth larger on the pinion than the belt drive cars.

For 13.5t motors(30* timing) I recommend to start at 4.1fdr to 4.2 fdr if you are at the 1380g limit....Nobody will pull you down the straight anymore....

So maybe should look at 33-35 pinion. LHS has a 69 spur I'll grab tomorrow and have him order the Robinson 55T

Weight is almost 1500 w/ body 5K pack. Going on a diet, have 4200 Shorty pack inbound and will lighten up where I can elsewhere.

For 13.5t motors you really need a 60t spur gear.... 55t is good for 17.5t motors..... Getting the weight down close to 1380g is very important.....

Robinson does. A Main Hobbies has them. I'm assuming 48 pitch. I don't recall a part number.

The stock number is RRP-1860.... You will need to dremel the chassis webbing under the pinion gear....
Personally, I run my novak 13.5t(12.5mm rotor) at 3.65fdr for indoor carpet tracks, but I am pushing it on purpose to test my upgrade package......

Bert's gearings are dangerous and emulating him will result in the smell of burning money wafting through your LHS. I run my 17.5 on an indoor carpet track at 3.9:1 and it comes off plenty hot, I would start a 13.5 at 4.5:1 or higher. You can always gear it more aggressively afterward.

I run 3.7-4.2 fdr for 17.5 so I would suggest maybe starting at 5.0fdr for 13.5 and see where you are then start adding teeth to the pinion gears. Personally I'm not a fan of 48p gears in on road so for stock I run a 76t 64p spur. I would assume it would also work for 13.5

Yeah, the 48 pitch stuff seems a bit rough. I use Kimbrough spurs that don't fit the bearing tightly enough to run in my 1/12 scale, I think mine is an 80 tooth.

I have pushed my gearing but it didn't benefit me on a small track. I run in the 3.7 range for 17.5 and when I ran 13.5 I was right around 4.5-4.7. A super smooth drivetrain will let you pull a little more gear.( I sprang for the ceramic bearings back in the brushed days and am anal about keeping them cleaned and lubed) but i still wont go below 3.5 on any motor not even a 21.5. on a side note theres some new folks here I think a repost of Bert's crash fest video is in order for proof not to listen to him

I'll start with what LHS has on hand 69/34 for 4.93 and decide which way to go from there if needed.

I am just getting in to racing TC to hold me over for the winter.
My main gig is heli's (Team KDS Model Canada) and I tell ya tuning TC is more difficult for me than a 700 class. Suspension setup, tire choices, drive setup... I guess it's all what one is used to.
I've run 1/8 buggy in the past but they are no where near as sensitive to setup compared to a TC on high grip carpet.
