Well 69/34 is at the limit of the tc4 motor cam... It might fit tightly, and burn energy.... It's best to get the 60t spur, remember the two most important tc4 gearing numbers: 89 and 103...Your total tooth count in 48p ,pinion plus spur, should always be between 89 and 103... Any higher or lower is not physically possible....
Ps: The Novak Vulcan 17.5 recommended gearing start is 3.5fdr, and that's probably for belt cars. Other racers have reported good results at 3.33fdr with their tc4's... It's novak or nothing!!! The 13.5 suggested gearing start is 4.5fdr, probably for beltdrives, so 4.2fdr for the tc4 sounds just right...

The LOSA3333 will not work you will need the LOSA3344.. and they are very very... very...... hard to find.... you can find parst to build a set but even most of the stores that had spare parts to build the LCD's are out of stock... eBay has a few dog bones and axles now and then... but the LCD rebuild kit or center section is the one that will be a pain the butt to locate

Another important part of the tc4 weight loss process is the selection of lightweight tires, even if they are spec tires... Tire Manufacturers sometimes make mistakes and put the wrong inserts in their spec tires, which can result in a significant weight difference, on top of the fact that each tire will still weigh slightly more or less than the next... Most of my sweep tires weigh from 27grams to 35grams each, and the lightest tires from Sorex can go under 23grams... That's a possible 12gram difference per tire or 48gram difference for a set of four...wow..... Imagine the rotational mass difference... Four Sweep Exp40 tires(136grams), Sorex 28 revlite wheels,blue inserts(94 grams)...
Make sure you weigh all your tires after taking them out of the bag, and group them accordingly... I suspect some racers might be keeping all the lightest spec tires for themselves.....lol......
I wonder why they did not make carbon rims or graphene(10gram per tire) for electric tc tires yet: tires would weigh less than 20grams each then...lol....

I bought them a few years ago, they have just been sitting in the box since. There was one chap on here after them but I haven't heard anything from him in ages. If anyone wants them then pm me, I'm open to offers.
Ok... Anybody here using the trinity motolyser in addition to a mms&rms???? It might explain the difference between average tc4 racers and the "fast guys"....

I have a brand new Novak VTA Ballistic 25.5 brushless motor installed with the Edge 2S ESC on a TC4. It doesnt have a pinion yet since the one I ordered with it was 64p by accident... Will have a proper one soon to set the mesh. However, with lightly feathering the throttle to test it with no load (yes I know it's not recommended but not going full at all), it's not a clean whining noise that you might hear, bit of a vibrating noise I wasn't expecting from a brushless. Should I see how it is with the proper mesh and a couple runs? Almost sounds like the bearing. New to onroad and VTA, just curious. I've been to the local indoor track using other VTA's and the motors seem very silent.
25.5 motors are very quiet indeed....Nothing wrong there...

The only time that happens is when the sensor board is about to fail..... I would try a different sensor board, even if the current board is new...

I have had a couple of these motors and they both sounded weird to me when revved unloaded. They are low rpm motors, and I think that must be why they sound odd to me. Both of my motors ran just fine - I've of the fastest cars on the straightaway in my class so far.
The Edge has a sensor test mode you can do if you aren't sure. And you can always lube the bearings lightly. But I think it will run fine.

My problem is , I've only heard novak motors run... I'm not familiar with the other brands at all... The Novaks are really on the slow side, and need to be geared much higher than other motors... Novak recommends 3.5fdr start gearing for their 17.5t Vulcan motors, but on the tc4 I would start at 3.35fdr... As far as the 25.5t motor, I would start at 3.05fdr , but with a very free&light drivetrain and strong fan...
