depends on the 19T...
i run Reedy Quad-Mag 19T at ~5.7-5.8 FDR
100T Spur i'd start with a 43T pinion
in general if i run a 2-magnet 19T like a trinity chameleon i start 2 teeth lower and work from there...
i know it sounds a bit crazy since ususally the lower the turn motor the smaller the pinion, but this is what works for me...

Dude if he's geared right on his Monster then theres no way he is going to be running 40 anything. He said 33-100 which is a 7.575 fdr. Seems a little under geared but he might be running big tires. I always start at 35-100 at every track and adjust from there. If your tires are small then obviously you will be hanging a bigger pinion on there. Just last week I ran a 37-100 and should have probably been at 38-100. But that was with 53 mm tires. If I put my 57's on then I probably would have been at 35 or 36. You really want to find out the Rollout for the fast guys and try to get there. Once you are there, switching to a 19t should be no big deal. C2's are the lowest on the rollout chart. followed by Reedy and Atlas. TOP cans are somewhere in there as well.

Thanks guys I'll try both and see what happens. I will be running a C2 we'll see what it likes best.

How big are the tracks that you are running on? I have never ran a 40-100 on a C2. with todays batteries I would think that anything this high would come off the track at 300 degrees and would loose punch around 3 minutes

hm mxracer23 doesnt have a location tag... i guess if its carpet racing then i'm out lol... i have no experience racing on the rug...
i've geared the way i mentioned everywhere i've raced 19T...
socal raceway in ca, mid sized high bite asphalt...

yeah from what I understand tracks in Cali are nothing like we run out here in the North East. If a track hits a 80 foot straight that is considered wide open. You will come across tracks that say they are 90x60 or something like that but out of that 90 foot straight you are really only using 70 or so. To me the Tamiya track is huge. I would love to run on that.

Sorry Guys Here in Figid New England running on carpet.
Bob I am running 57mm tires with the FDR 7.3-7.5 and that is right on. I was told that you should gear a 19T really tall but I was questioning the advice so I thought that I would check here first.

The C2 is close to gearing to the Monster. Start 1 or 2 teeth down and see where you are at. I usually run 19T outside with rubber tires, your rollout from what you just told me is 24.344. My rollout for 19 outside is usually around 27.5 (35/100) with a C2 but with the Atlas it will be up near 31. I believe the Reedy is up near the Atlas.

The highest gear i have run on a C2 is 39/100... its smallish indoor rug. Some people can run a bigger gear if the driving style allows them too. If you arent smooth and peg the throttle alot... you cant run a bigger gear... like Bob said youll smoke the motor... especially with todays batts. Stock is much the same but the wire diameter is alot smaller... and cant withstand the amp draw a larger gear can cause, so gear selection isnt as wide as say 19T.... in the colder months the motor may not burn up... but the comm will definitely discolor and youll burn the brushes up... unless you are running the XXX brush. Then youll just notice comm discoloration.. and the motor will smell like a small electrical fire. The Atlas 19 supposedly needs more gear than the C2... and i have never run a Reedy 19 to comment on that. For the Monster Stock i have run as low as a 31/96 but a good ballpark starter gear for 57ish sized tires is 33/100. As mentioned earlier... the smaller/bigger the tire, the ratio needs to be adjusted to compensate.

Dave, got your PM. tough luck...I actually have a spare in my box too LOL. My rollout this past week was 24.5 with a monster. Dave I want pictures You should really try my setup. That and possibly look into moving the steering rack and servo up closer to the front.(like the BMI) I think that makes a huge difference. My car is out of commission til middle of Jan now while I do the "overhaul" new gears, ball cups etc... I would like to get it nice and quiet as well. Now it sounds like a hoover vacuum coming down the straight.....oh wait that might just be my motor's

Bob go to the bicycle shop and get yourself some White Lighting chain lube. Put a small coating on your gears and let it dry. It dries and leaves a nice teflon type coating on the gears and after a run or two the gears will spin like normal but the car will be alot quieter overall. You can recoat every few weeks as needed. You can also use the Paragon Liquid graphite type stuff on the gears in the same manor as the White Lighting. I used both and they work about the same. The WHite Lightning will be fairly easy to get from any good bicycle shop.

Honestly, who cares about noise?!?!?
I WANT the belt-driven masses to hear my banshee approaching and quake with fear!
The louder the gear whine the better in my opinion...
