Well, I made the choice to give TC another try after a few year break. Decided on the Xray t3'11 an now I'm looking to upgrade the chassis and was wondering what chassis everyone would decide on, the exotech or the smokem chassis'?
So if ya could tell me what your thoughts are on either chassis an why that would be great.
Thanks for any and all input.
Mike

I have a question about esc's...even though this may not be the appropriate placde to ask this question.

Currently I am building my T3'11 and I was planning on running the Castle Mamba Pro I have. A fellow racer told me I would get much better lap times and smoothness if I switched to LRP speed controlls. Is he being a "brand-snob" or would the t3'11 really benefit from the switch?

One benefit I see is that it is a smalled speed control and would fit a little nicer as space is tight.

What are you t3 specific thoughts on either speed controll. I will be running it in 17.5 spec, rubber tire, carpet racing.

From my experience, in 17.5 stock/blinky there isnt alot of difference in speedy's, having said that of three i have used:
SPeed passion Cirtix: Cheap, ok speedy, brakes not as strong as others. Blown it up though, not as tolerant as other speedys when the motor thermals.
Hobbywing justock: Best bang for buck speedy, can get it for $55 around the traps, better brakes than the cirtix and little more tolerant of thermalled motors
SPeed passion GT2 LPF: Great speedy, great brakes, can be had for $95 if you look around on ebay. Great tolerance to thermalling motors, little bigger than the cirtix and Justock though
My reccomendation would be the Justock if u are new to the game

Default gear vs ball diff

just started up carpet season and looking for some input/opinions on running a gear or ball diff with a spool in front. Running 17.5 blinky with a ball diff for now, have a gear diff and would like to get a rough idea of the pro's and con's of the gear diff

thanks eric lee

So far I'm please with the Exotek chassis.
My original chassis needed replacing so I went with the Exotek so I could try the rotated servo position.

Hi Eric,

I've been playing arround with the XRAY Gear Diffs for a few weeks now in two different environments, tarmac with rubber and carpet with foam tyres. So far the downside of the gear diffs that I've found is that they are slightly more prone to causing a 'tank slapper' and its possible to snap a drive belt.

The upside is corner exit speed and reliability.

Last night at indoors (carpet with Foam tyres) I ran a ball diff in the rear (soon to be a gear diff with 2k oil) and a Gear diff in the front with 200k oil. My car was quick and consistent and easy to drive. If you are looking for a starting setup for Gear diffs this would be my sugestion.

It depends what surface you are running on, the kit chassis is a very good all-rounder, the smokem should be good for low grip and the exotek may be best when the grip is up.

Congratulations, Ari !

What type of car do you drive ? A little pushing, more stable or fast reaction a bit oversteer ?

Thanks, I personally think my car is pretty neutral, if you drive smooth the car will have plenty of steering, if you push hard the car will push too.

Try the setting and let me know if you have any questions.
