Having said that, at the end of the day regardless of our loyalty to brand/maker we are all working to achieve our personal goals and promote and grow this hobby. If a new ride will allow you to do this then we all win.

On the flip side it is good to hear that Ed and others are achieving some level of success on low to medium grip conditions. I race at the same track that Karl mentioned a couple of posts back. The grip levels are very high and just like Karl my setup challanges have been to free up the rear to help the car rotate better. From reading this thread it appears to be a good problem to have.

I'm relatively new to the hobby so I'm still learning as much as I can about setup. One thing that I've picked up on is that the fast guys spend a great deal of time on prepping their tires. At my recent trophy race the fast guys were meticulously grinding/sanding and cleaning/saucing their tires. I'm sure this alone was not what won them the race but every little bit counts.
Wait until the Paved Nats at Jackson. Its all about tire prep and strategy.

Your 417 was quite good at the C Saturday, I finally got mine almost good by the main and it paid off.

Here are a few of my favourite quotes from Mr "struggled for 4 years with no rear grip"

Wink

That's why he was the "legend". Not by any means of racing I guess.

Did you spend all night on that? You're a creeper.

The challenge isn't making a car that's stuck to the track, you can do that and be half a second off all day long. The trick is to find the right balance of steering and rotation through the corner without breaking rear traction.

I'm guessing this is the first time you've heard that. I'm not surprised you couldn't get on with Tamiya.

I don't know about "creeper" but I've heard CraigM does a pretty mean worm!

Anyway guys, let the man change his toy car if he wants to. It's his money... Let's get back on topic.

All night? no, it's daytime here for starters, but besides that I'm not having a go at you - just having a joke and pointing out that you were exaggerating bit. There's only a few of us still around that remember when the TRF416 thread had "No Joke" in it's title

Tamiya was always good to me, I left because xray had a package that performed just as well on the local tracks but had great local support. Since then I've been really happy with the car, but I don't think it's any faster.

All the best with the change though, hopefully I'll see you in the T3'11 thread soon

Yokomo MR4TC-BD5W edition thread? Ronald is posting there finally

We'll miss you Adam. Sometimes a car change is good, it opens up new setup knowledge and driving style...often times making someone faster in the process.
