Hi,

What changes have they made on the 417x from the standard 417 ? is it going to be easy to upgrade ? Looking to change my car and interested in the Tamiya.

Thanks.

Running boosted 17.5 carpet, do you want the "flex" chassis or the "hard" chassis.

Thanks Greg G

So does that mean that the 417X, which seems to have been designed to have more 'flex' than the standard 417, is not suited to carpet racing?

I race exclusively on carpet, and was planning on selling my 417 to get the 417X. I may now just get the 417X parts (chassis/top deck/motor mount) and see if it improves the car on carpet. If not, then I can go always back to the original spec.

It seems strange to me though, that Tamiya would release the 417X with changes that make it perform less well on carpet than the standard 417...

Hello,

I have been having some issues for the past 2 race days, with the front spool. The arms are stock, and they keep popping out and ruining my runs. The plastic in the out drives become wrecked, and I cant figure out why the drive shafts keep coming out, every run is a a different side.

The car is stock nothing fancy, just factory parts.

So today for 1 of my runs I took the spool out and put the ball dif in the front and it ran fine... no problems. All I had was the ball dif as a spare and needed a quick fix. (gear dif in the back.)

I'd rather run the spool up front but cant figure out what the problem is, no one at the track can either, and no one else at the track is having this issue.

Any help would be good.

thanks

s

Generally on carpet tracks you do want a stiffer car, and asphalt/tarmac more flex. To me it seems Tamiya do most there testing on asphalt/tarmac tracks BUT if you look at the results from the ETS series Reinhard did well with the 417x on the rug. So i wouldn't really look into to much

Only you can answer that based on how you like a car to feel.
