I have had the V1 CVSs front and rear on my T3 for about 4 race days and a few practice days. I run mostly 10.5 Sedan. I'm an average driver which means I hit stuff, and stuff hits me, and on occasion my T3 becomes a stunt car or model airplane. My point is that I am not in the top 10% of racers who love this hobby. My CVSs have held up brilliantly. No failures of capture rings or anything else. There is a very slight bend in the left side front bone but the abuse it took to slightly bend it would have required a replacement of the Xray part. Other than that they look just as they did when I got them in the mail. I haven't recieved the V2s but I am very happy with the V1s.

Default Jon I'll buy a set right now if you can post some updates.

Has the design changed much from the old pics?

RC Knight, the basic design hasn't changed, just details on the internals.

And how often do they need re-packing?

I like stuff that's fix-o-dent and forget it... at least until I break it.

Since there is no cover on the shaft, I'm rebuilding mine every week.

I just use ZX1, and thrust bearing grease.

Do you mix 'em or apply each on different parts?

Clean them out. Add the ZX1 to the balls. Put a little bit of grease in the cup, put the shaft back in and add some grease to the top. Make sure it runs freely.

Repeat!

I use a graphite based synthetic grease. Thick but slick. Every other race day, which may include a practice day in between, I spray them clean with a motor spray and repack. I do not think there is a need disassemble them unless you are doing a rebuild. Just put a blob of grease in the joint and use your finger to push it down into and behind the cage. Move the axle around to get the grease everywhere it should be and to check for continued free play. You don't have to fill the whole cup of the axle. The excess will spin out the first laps anyway.
A quick tip for those like me who were curious how these things work and did take it appart. The little balls bounce real good and like to play hide and seek. If you lost one or two, I found that the diff balls from my T3 are the same size and caused no binding. This will work until you get a proper rebuild kit.
