anyone know when we might see the Bulkheads available for spares #31309 ? one local snapped a screw off in his and one of mine has a hole thats starting to strip after a hard impact with a wrong direction heading fellow racer. Would be nice to get these coming, dont know how many more little impacts that side will take before that hole is done for

on the plus side, car much easier out of the box to drive then the TC5 was

AWESOME

I had my deput with the car Yesterday. I Received my car on Friday and built the car in time for our bi-monthly Saturday Day Race (we typically race Thursday nights).

I received a kit with no problems. The build went smooth and it was quick. I did find that the stock pistons are not very smooth until they break in (these will be gone as son as my 1,1,1.5 blanks come in this week).

I was suprised that the stock set-up came with such soft springs, but once I saw up close how everything is to center and the roll centers for the stock set-up, I understood.

I did not stray far from the stock set-up. I built the car with #2's instead of #3's and went with 450 CST oil in it. (Our track is asphalt, out-doors and it has been kind of cool, so cars tend to like lighter oil there.) Aside from that, I made no changes before I hit the track.

From the first lap, I knew I liked the car. The set-up was so close to being perfect that I almost matched my fastest lap with my previous car (XRAY T3) on the first pack. (My fast lap, was also the fastest lap at the track.)I did notice this car has more punch than any other belt drive I have driven. It almos feels like a shaft car without the torque steer. I actually have to roll the throttle to not spin the tires with this car. I guess this is due to the large pulleys and the material of the belts. The number one comment I got from other racers was about how much punch my car had. I agree.

After driving a bit, I then layed in my shocks a bit in the rear as the car was a little loose in the middle to exit of the corner. Without making any further changes, this is how I ran the car in the first qualifier.

In the first qualifier I broke the current track record (held by my XRAY T3) by 3 seconds. This was with a car that was far from perfect. My XRAY I had been running for months on the track. The car was still loose and it pushed a bit at the end of the straight.

For the second qualifier I put new tires on the car. The car was really fast for the first half of the race, but towards minute 4, it felt like ther rear tires got greasy and they started to let go on corner exit. Still I improved my time another 3 seconds. The fastest lap record was also broken. I barely missed 33 laps, the car dropped pace in the last minute or two though.

For the third qualifier, I increased rear toe to 3 degrees. Instantly the car had way more turn in everywhere. The car was now fantastic at the end of the straghtaway. The rear end was also locked in way better. I felt a lot more comfortable pushing. In this qualifier, I managed to do the 33 lapper, again another track record.

The car was still not perfect and I lacked a little bit of grip under hard acceleration, so I decided to go lighter on the rear oil (400 cst) for the main. With this change the car was now as close to perfect of a TC as I have driven on this track. It was balanced and had a TON of corner speed. I could grab more throttle on corner exit and this made me way more confident. If calculated out, this run would have been 3 seconds faster than the qualifiers.

For a first time out, my expectations were more than exceeded. The car was instantly better and faster than my previous car. Of all the things, part of what I liked the most was the fact that the car is oblivious to corner dots, you can hit them, and the car takes it really well. I did not roll a single time from a dot. This is rare at our track as dots are our only rear barriers. This made me way more confident driving tighter lines. Another plus is that under hard cornering, the chassis does not scrape the ground. AT ALL. No matter what I did to my old car, the chassis drug on the ground close to the motor really bad. This sometimes caused trouble in high speed corners going to the right.

I am so looking forward to my next outing with the car, I might play around with some shorter camber links to see if I like them better or worse on our small 80x60 ft track.

Never had an issue with bent screws. Even with my old TC5.

Although in theory longer screws should resolve the issues you guys are talking about. Stay away from stainless or aluminum in these positions. Tonys screw kits are a real nice strong metal if you don't want AE screws.

I have had bent rear hinge pins in my Tamiyas.

HEXCREWS.COM Makes a real nice screw kit for this car, the AP (Armor Plated) screws with extra deep sockets this a nice touch.

I heard the 5700Kv is like a 9-turn and the 6900Kv is like a 6-turn so what will work better, I don't want to over power the car. Also are the TC6 shock bodys aluminum or plastic.
Thanks.

Whatever.
Put 5.7k then if is too slow, put more.

They are allu.

About engines: if you race at some event, just check if your motor
fit rule (is legal), if drive parking, put some less power.

;)

ever tryed lower rollcenter like 1B Rear 3A Front?

On my first race i lowered the rollcenter to 2B Front and Rear and car was great (indoor tarmac, stock racing)

On my sec. race i choose 1B Rear 3A Front but this time on mid-traction Carpet with modified.

Im not sure what rollcenter to use on carpet and still searching for a base carpet setup.

You can find my setups on facebook account (germany),
just search my usename

greetings

Here in the USA.. Stock spec racing with 17.5 racing is getting very popular. You have set your timing to what ever you'd like on the motor. But the ESC has NO Boost, NO advanced timing on the ESCs. So we are running crazy FDR numbers like 3.5-3.9... so in this car.. we have to go to a 90-94 spur with larger pinions.
