FLAT OUT 12-21-2010 08:40 AM

A friend of mine has just bought a TC6 here in the UK, He says it has a front slipper spool ???? Not sure what that is or how it works. Can one of the team drivers explain it and how it should be used as a tuning option. Im watching this car with interest as im on the market for a new TC but there are so many new ones out its hard to know where to start lol.

TC6 Weight

Rick. Any word on the ballast weight?

Just built my second TC6, it balanced at 1340g race ready! I really don't want to stick a bunch of wheel weights on these beautiful chassis.

Instead of diff rings it has slipper pads. It drives like a spool but has give if you hit something.

Just lock it right up and pretend it's a spool. 99% of the time it should feel like a spool, but will have a bit of slip under the sort of load that would normally break an outdrive or driveshaft.

Associated's slipper spool was a stroke of genius! Ask the TCX and Xray guys how many front drive shaft's and cross pins they've broken.

They were using 48 pitch when they made motor mounts that moved the motor in. The orginial TC5 had the motor moved out by a ton. Most of the guys that did this mod didnt tie the motor mount back to the layshaft mount properly causing the gears to strip.
Un-modified TC5's had no issues.

Thanks for the info.
