How long until USGT tires are "good" on black carpet? When the treads are semi-worn?

I bought a new set a few months ago but only have maybe ~8 packs thru them. No, I did not sand/scuff them down a bit (probably should have). Unfortunately forgot to ask a local fast racer to swap tires as I was battling setup issues. Front sidewalls are glued, rears are not.

I have a 16month old set, seen at least 50 race days that are still good but getting a bit too ballooned for black carpet. (FYI balloon tires are awesome for low grip surfaces).

Yes , I have seem them in the past on other driver car...it took me a little while to finding out why the tries cause to ballooning ..turn out to be the racer are using much hotter tire sauce than SXT...

That could be but not in my 50 race day set. They ballooned because as they soak (over soak perhaps a few times) the insert swells a little each time. After that many applications of sauce the tire stretches more and more. I use SXT only FYI.

What I mean is when are they considered fully broken in? (providing maximum grip) Not how long they last.

they really don't last very long. They start to swell up about 10 to 16 runs on them and by 20 runs their really bad. What happens is you start chasing your setup compensating for the tires. Sure you can keep running them and for typical club days you'll get by but you'd be faster with newer ones. I usually use one new set per race day and save them for practice days and once they swell they go in the trash.

For asphalt worn in and rounded tires work amazing here (so long as the wheels aren't cracked by then lol).

Carpet guys and Asphalt guys should form an exchange program. Let the carpet guys run new set tires and when broken in exchange them with asphalt guys for a brand new set of tires. Win win

And the USGT body standard is getting just as abused. Like I said, just call it Touring Car, no difference anymore, might as well throw in those stupid dish wheels too.

I can still spot a GT car versus a TC car at 200'. There may need to be some pushback. But it's still very different from TC. The seventeen TC body classes I can't tell at range. That's a critical failure of most r/c car classes.
