Randy, got it! Thanks for your help. I think what I'll do is practice without the receiver pack and race with it in.

OK all of you smart XXXS racers (you have to be smart your racing LOSI's) I am thinking of tring out racing parkinglot, and at my local track they run foams. What would be a good starting point with my setup? Or would my carpet setup work with softer springs? You can call me lazy, but I really didn't want to look through all 345 pages of posts. Thanks for any help.

what Mcsquish you gonna give the black swamp boys a run for the title? You should bag that and come race with us this weekend at laser you wont be disappointed its a great track!!

I would start with either the reedy race set up from the losi web site or try your carpet set up and go from there.

Well I finally hit one major snag. Stripped the two screws on the left side roll center block. I even pre-tapped it. Took me two hours of dremeling to cut a slot on the screw so I could get it out. I didn't have the right bit that I needed to do it faster. Luckily my old Pro SE had the same scews, so I borrowed them. I'm back in business.
Moral of the story? Don't just tap the threads. Make sure that the tap screw moves fairly easily when you tap your roll center blocks, even if you have to back it out a little and then rescrew it several times. Also, use ball driver whenever possible. I got out my Bondhus set after that.

It's only good for a few seconds of runtime really, but let us know how it goes.

Also, try dipping the screws in liquid Dawn dish washing soap. This will lubricate the threads and repell the dirt.

Default battery tape

When people remove the battery strap and the two posts, what tape do they use to hold the battery in place?

Is traction compound commonly used in parking lot races with rubber tires? If so any particular brand or application method.

Does the actual condition of the lot matter when considering traction compound; i.e. well swept, not so well swept, or well swept and sugar water applied.

Default Re: battery tape

imjonah- I removed the battery hadware in an attempt to even out the left and right side weights. It weighs 17g. I use regular strapping tape I bought from the hardware store.

For a Monster, just get 29 (tight), 30 (medium), 31 (open) pinions to start. I have 28-34 with a couple dups; but, that covers my Cameleon 19T motor needs too.

Yes, I like the "Old South Forty".

Will be bringing at least one new toy...he, he...

I guess it's true that we do gear everything up at SoCal. For monsters it's 32-34 tooth pinions.
