i always stripped my Evo III SE front ring gear when running mod motor, only twice i pull the throttle and those gear stripped make a annoying noise...what should i do to make my Evo III can run mod motor. if i have to use shim on those gear, where should i place those shim???

Hi everyone im looking at getting an evo, just sold my T2 as couldn't afford the part bills.
ive got a friend with an evo V and its a rocket but wat are the advantages of the V over the IV.
and does anyone know wher the cheapest place to buy an evo 5 (15yearold budget:lol:)

better corner speed, lower CG, new tamiya steering system, i think the parts are easier to get, will be supported by tamiya for longer, and simply newer and solved some of the problems the IV had ( i dunno what they are, just from what ive heard).

Are there any good build tips i should Know(besides spend a long time shimming it right)

also a friend has been experimenting with the bevel gears, he reckons that if you dont grease the gears it will lessen wear. Because less dust and little rocks/sand wont get stuck on them.( i race on a very dusty track). so grease vs non grease?:lol:

Hopefully i already got the answer. I bought some pinions that range from 31 th to 41 teeth.
Since I got the 2 spurs (90 and 96 teeth) i think i will have enough gearings possibilities to use my 17 turns Corally motors at its best potential. :sneaky:

Chamber: 1,5° all around,
Caster: 4°
Toe in rear between 2° (Stock Motors till 17T) 2,5°-3° for Modified.
Ride height: 5 front, 5,5 rear ground clearance
Droop: front 6mm rear 5mm (meassured from the bottom of the lower deck to the under surface of the suspension arm.

Sway Bars: You have to try. Test the soft ones.

Dampers: White spring front, blue spring rear, 50 or 40oil, 3 hole, no bushing or o ring). If there is low grip then use the blue spring front and the yellow spring rear.

The Damper, and upper arm positions all stock. maybee you can try to use the inner hole from the bulkhead upperarmmount.

I hope it works well, because it is my setup for my Evo5 on Carpet Tracks.
I also run harder swaybars sometimes. (depends on the griplevel)

This response is prolly a bit late and you have most likely already built the car .. but .... on the tamiya website in the articles section there is a long article on a "preoffesional build" of the evo 5 by one of the TRF drivers. Its pretty good, sorry no link.:rolleyes:

do you take off the whole rear gearbox assembly + motor mount?
