Ran mine tonight for the first time, 27t stock on carpet with foam, just wanted to get a practice run in, im mainly doing asphalt racing this year, first impressions were very good, felt nice and smooth, transisted well etc. Managed to break it though :( Pulled the screw through the front knuckle at the bottom which i then lost and didnt have a spare for. Doh!
This used to be a common problem on the TC3 (for me anyway  ) Is there a wider front bumper/stiff foam bumper i can use to help limit damage.
Also, the front and rear end seems to have quite a lot of slop in the hubs/wishbones, im guessing the alloy rear hubs fix that end, and some light shimming will be good for the front, not what i was expecting really though, thought Tamiya had perfect fit and finish.
What springs are people running, ive only got the tamiya yellows which ive no idea on the lb's of, my alex ones fitted but are a little bigger in inside diameter but are usable (i ran those instead) rayspeeds are too big and pop off the bottom.

Earlier on, i'd a problem on spur keep on stripping.

found out that the spur holder was too loose, i gotta add on shims (in between the motor holder and the spur holder).

thanks

I use a Trinity Reflex 200mm bumper. It is red and top plastic part only needed one hole cut in it and I trimmed down the front edge to fit in a 190mm body. Works great and protects the wheels well. I first did this when I started running a spool and the wheels are protected way better than before.

Thanks, ill see if i can get one as i almost only run a spool now, just love how they handle

Just resealed my whole chassis sanding it properly. I did it quick in the week so i could run it but wasnt happy with the finish, the glue came off really easy in most places too so musnt have been very good. Sanded it all down with 600~800 grade paper and took those sharp edges off. Its come up very nicely now :) Just a cosmetic thing, little dribble that ran onto the surface, nail varnish remover or acetone should get rid of it using a Q-Tip to apply it?

Quick one, whats the biggest 48dp spur that fits, im guessing a 75-78? I ran a 69 last night which was my spare from my cuda and i had to have the motor mounted as far over as it would go with the pinion i was running..

The only way to get a 78 tooth to fit is to sand a recess in the top deck. You just take off a little material from the edges around the spur and it will work out fine.

berger,
I had the same problem w/ my Evo's steering knuckle screws pulling out. I just replaced the 3 X 10 flat head screws w/ button head screws. The threaded portion is just slightly longer and gets a better grip in the knuckle. I haven't pulled one out since. Also, I'm using Associated springs on the car, they fit perfectly.

Thanks, ill see what screws ive got in my box, im sure ill have something suitable. (Hope im not breaking things often ;) where i broke it is very hard on the cars, 90 degree right hander at full throttle, i took it too tight and hit a metal pillar supporting the whole mill building  ) Ill probably just stick to using the alex springs, i do have an almost complete set of them....

Hey guys,

Just picked up a Tamiya EVO IV roller, and I must say I am very impressed with the car in terms of quality and and design. I am having a few problems finding some parts for the car though -- particularly the batter holder and strap. Does anyone know where to get it? I looked at SpeedTech R/C and they are out of stock. Also, since this is my first Tamiya, what are things to look out or replace on this car to enhance it or prevent any problems further down the road? Help is greatly appreciated, thanks.

Don't bother with the battery strap. Just tape the batteries in and call it good. The strap lets the batteries pop right out of the chassis.
