Originally posted by KilRuf I've run both an EvoIII and EvoIV. I would say the EvoIV is the better car of the 2. At least for asphalt. I can't really speak for it on carpet. On asphalt, I don't run any of the center braces. I don't think they are necessary. It also has a better suspension for asphalt. Now I can't really say if it's worth $250 more than your deal with the EvoIII. The EvoIV doesn't come with all the sway bars you need. It doesn't come with all the different suspension blocks you need. And here are a few hopups you might like to get as well. Like aluminum input shafts and drive cups. Thanks again Cheers |
Originally posted by F. Alonso Galifrey, the problems you have can be fixed without much of an issue. Like Kilruf, I don't run with any of the plastic support blocks either. To change a spur it can be a pain because of fitting the driveshaft in again. The plastic drive cups are crappy of course so you get the aluminium ones, no big deal. Battery coming out, get the Yokomo MR4-TC Graphite bar, ultra stiff and I've never had a battery come out, even after 4 months of racing with it!! I also don't need to add any weights to my car, it sits pretty much right on 1500g already, with all the things I have on my car, like motor fan, etc. The reasons why the RCLabs could be better may simply be that you haven't given the Evo IV a go enough. I absolutely love my car and I've never had an issue trying to be competitive with it. I've generally been in the top 3 everytime I've used it so GO EVO IV!! I have the metal drive cups and I have all the upgrades tamiya do including all the suspension blocks, ceramic bearings, front spool ad nauseum.. and still i cant get better than at least a second a lap slower than my RC-Labs... It should be faster as it has way less rolling resistance, but the fact is the labs runs much better on carpet for me.... I have not had to fit one upgrade to the RC-Labs, it just works better for ME I cannot explain it.... Even running lighter cells and no added weight the car cannot compete for my driving style... Its such a shame as I think its a piece of engineering art.. :( |
To me... I feel as if you are better running with a car at 1500g rather then a car thats balanced perfectly left to right. Perhaps its just more based on driver skill from there. I don't know. Everyone is right to have their own opinion, all I can say is that I believe that the Evo IV is a great car and I really love it.

Hi Guys,
We received some preliminary pictures on the EVO IV MS (however, we can not post them until the 10th of Feb.) But here are some specs that we can see from the pictures: Hop-ups: Graphite bumper brace Blue aluminum FL coated shocks Blue aluminum shock collars Blue aluminum rear hub carrier Blue aluminum ball studs throughout Blue aluminum pillow balls Front and rear aluminum center drive cups Light weight aluminum center shaft Blue light weight aluminum turnbuckles through out Low Friction ball cups possibly the light weight front and rear input shaft are included as well New hop-up: "Y" center post. This piece mounts to one point on the lower deck, but mounts to two points on the upper deck Also, there seems to be a sway bar support place of some sort as well. Pictures will be posted on the 10th  We will start the pre-order for the EVO IV MS on the 10th as well. This car kit Tamiya will attempt on a worldwide release, which means we should receive the car kit at around the same time as Japan  Steve Wang |
fantastic..... looking forward to seeing the pics!

Undoubtably it was inevitable that tamiya should release a kit such at that...
