I think I will get some new bearings in a few weeks but I'm not totally decided on what I want to get. In no hurry but in the near future I will get some new ones.

hi guys i'm really noob at r/c stuff cos i just started and i wanted to know is there anything i need if i get an evo IV? for spares say if i hit stuff once or twice....cos i'm just planning to drive it wif a 540....altho i fink u guys think i'm stupid to buy an evo Iv and run a 540....i just want sumthing to practice on as well as race in stock.... cos i kinda got confused wif the parts that u guys say u need....just bear in mind i'm goin to drive wif a 540..
cheers ^^ |
There have been a lot of people ask this question of what you need, etc. Yada yada yada. If you read through the last 5 or so pages you will probably find out what you need, as well as the "415 vs evo 4" thread, as Brainteased was also after the Evo IV and was going to be racing 540 too.
Anyway, despite all that, main things you need are: Aluminium driveshaft cups (front + rear because plastic ones break, even with 540) Spare 950 bearings Spare front Uprights + C hubs (i recommend 4 degree) Spare Rear Uprights spare Flange Tubes Spare 2.6mm screw pins Spare Spurs Spare Bevel Gears Spare screws Spare arms (I only broke my first 1 on Sunday, but even so, you never know) That is what I would get, but not all of it is absolutely necessary, but there have been some weird accidents out there and you just never know when you will need a spare. Best thing you can do, is not hit anything. :D :D :D Hope this helps! |
THX DUDE!!! cleared up so many questions in my head... anyway i'll be getting mine in hk so now i'm just waiting to board that plane and grab those stuff!!! woho! :D

Only happy to help. Like I said, there is more info in this thread that is important to read but that's a start anyway. :D

hey
hey f. alonso
had a new set-up last weekend and had good result. here it is....im posting it here so that the others can take a look also front d- a rear a-a camber is +1.5 all the way tires 40 sorex i used shims to increase rear droop. forgot how much droop but will post it as soon as i get to check the car again |
here are the other specs of my new set-up
ride height front 6.5 rear 7 springs front Associated gold- suspension is set on the second position rear Associated blue- suspension is set at the second position one of the local top racers helped me with the set-up. |
Oh okay, I am gonna try out that D A at the front also, just need to get the blocks to try it out.
Sounds good, quite a lot of camber I notice though. I seem to be having a ball with 0.5 degree camber. Goes really nicely. Mind you, finding that I have to have a little bit of toe in if anything to keep the car on slight understeer. The car just has so much steering that is amazing. I think its a good thing, because it doesn't understeer, but with only a small change, I made my car really consistent throughout the runs. Once again, the 415s weren't close to me. :D :D |
by the way, have anybody tried using ball diffs for the front? can u use evo 3 ball diffs? i have tried using it and it seems that the cars moves a lot slower....evn in the straights. its really weird.

hey great! im sure that you are driving really well with the car. yep, the car has a lot of steering. i would like to beat the others too. im planning to win the race this weekend!hehehehehehe
on another note, have you had any speedo problems before? it seems that i do not get enough punch out of my speedo.....maybe im just paranoid. im using a gt7. you? |
Yes, you just use the Evo III diffs. I strongly recommend the Evo III Reinforced diffs wherever you use ball diffs.
I found that the car pushed like a bi@#h with the ball diff in the front. I think that on particularly tight tracks it may become useful but in general, ball diffs are just no good up front. I'm going to be getting a Spool for the car very soon so I can't wait to try that puppy out!! |
hey simon
do you use the inner hole on the front hub carrier for steering? i did that and it gave me instantly 5-10 more deg of steering throw! i also had to set my TX for 100% on right hand turns and 72% on left hand turns as the steering linkage gets contact with the tailshaft at the front how do you guys go about this? shim it sits higher? |
