Are these two square alumi parts hard enough to last for a long time? cos i just bought one pair from rainbow and wandering whether i should get another one?

^^^^ The Tamiya aluminium ones seem pretty sturdy, so I would expect the square rc ones to be much the same.

I run mod and I got the Tamiya aluminum cups. They seem pretty strong and make the drivetrain smoother. I am running a spool too and that is pretty hard on the drivetrain as well so I will let you guys know if I see any wear or breakage.

No electric for me this week... 1/8 onroad bay-bee!

Just wondering does the oneway gear fit onto the speedtechrc spool with out any mods and do u need any protection from the driveshaftpins clashing onto the spool?

the gear fits, but the screw head on the screws that hold the gear to the spool come mighty close to touching the bevel gear! the screws from the kit that hold the gear to the oneway have a hex head, and it doesn't lie flat against the gear. I had a spool for the evoIII that speedtech made that came with tiny screws and I used those instead with a dab of loctite. haven't had any problems yet (knock on wood!!)

fyi, in only run stock and throw in a 19 turn every once in a while, so i don't know how it will work with a mod motor

I'm also using the Speedtech spool, but with the alloy gear and the OEM screws..seems to be fine so far.

The spool is VERY hard. You will find it will wear out the universals before the spool. I generally load the U-drives up with Tamiya anti-wear grease on the spool side. It seems to help with the chatter also.

Are you sure you don't have the gear or the screws on the wrong side or something? Mine fit perfectly once I figured out what side of the spool to put the gear on. I am also using the aluminum gear but it should be the same for the plastic one.

Nice wheels Ling! Let me know when you are ready to take it out to Stockton and I'll give you my current setup.
