I have to agree with you Mr Lee, after my horrid performance at this years Snowbirds, my Rugrat has since been dialed on asphalt and carpet. :D At my local track the Rugrat is probably the most popular car but not too many people talk about them in this forum.

davidl,

Do you have setup for the rugrat for 12th stock/carpet? Looking for a starting poinr for vegas. Have you noticed its better on tight tracks with its shorter wheelbase?

Does anybody know who sells a whole complete screw kit for the 12l4? And possiblely have a link to their sight?

If you want the standard aluminum 12L4 screws, try AE. I believe they have it in a complete package.

First, I haven't noticed that the wheelbase is short. How are you comparing it to say that the wheelbase is short?

Second, my current setup is in preparation for a high bite track. That being said, I am working with hard purple front tires and white rears. The plan is to move to grey rears when the traction comes up.

*caster - all shims forward on the AE dynamic strut, 10 deg reactive
*camber -1.87 deg
*center shock - silva, 25 wt AE oil, AE blue spring
*king pin damping - Losi heavy hydradrive, .018 front springs
*Tee-Plate - Power Push .079 thick, tweek screws to the rear
*Damping tubes - Losi heavy hydradrive
*Steering servo set flat with Kimbrough med servo saver, IRS elevated pivot balls on spindles to level steering rods preventing bump steer
*Lower front suspension arms (.060) with .045 shims to put front suspension at same elevation as used on the 12L4. This sets front roll center.
*IRS rear ride height adjusters, 2.5
*Front tire 1.75 dia start
*Rear tire 1.85 dia start
*TQ8 Pro Plus traction compound
*Parma Speed 8 body
*Steering servo Airtronics 94145
*No receiver pack
*IRS lowered rear pod top deck and new side plates
*IRS rear differential w/large rings and Kimbrough gear set 6.73 wide
*Front track has one .020 shim inside each front wheel
*BSR tires and wheels front and rear

This is for stock motors. Still working on something for modified. Hope this helps.

DavidL,
where do u have your battries at?
Thanks

JPH Racing 08-25-2005 09:21 AM

DavidL: I'm a little confused by this part of your post. Can you explain it in a little more detail please? Seems .060 - .045 = .015 lower than stock? Where does this set the roll center compared to stock?

Thanks!

Let me know
Thanks

jrrc 08-25-2005 11:16 AM

David,

I'm comparing it to the L4. The Rugrat is couple of mm's shorter, while the Yokomo is a couple of mm's longer.

Thanks for the info.
