Has anyone been using a Spektrum system in a 12th scale car yet with success? I don't recall having seen any photos with one in it.
Thanks, doug |
Let's face it... gas or electric it's all expensive if you feel the need to have all the top of the line equip. which most of us want (myself included). That's why this is really a hobbie for the working person, or the kid that has parents that don't mind spending that kind of cash on their kid.
Sometimes gas can be cheaper if you buy rtr kits (low end) not LST's or Revo's or 1/8. Apex... I think OD and jrxs-bill have been successfully using the spektrum system in their cars. Fast... Nice post, good info., don't you ever work :D E |
Apex- I have been running the spektrum in my 1/12 scale with no problem at all. I am running a 5 cell 50 mah rx pack as well though. This takes any problems of the rx not having enough juice away.

Thanks Stephen, I will make sure that I use a receiver pack on my car. Any other special capacitors or anything on the electronics?
|
I am using a power cap on my sedans with the dsm recievers, but not on 12th scale because of the rx pack.

The three of us have all been running the DSM system with no servo pack or other enhancements, in stock and 19t. That's outdoors on asphalt. We are about to begin testing mod on carpet for the Vegas race, so we will see if there are any problems with that soon!

Graphite????
I have a question for all 12th scale drivers. I would like to know if a grahite chasis would become tweaked if left in extreme heat like in the back seat of my truck?
Also I have been using the DSM system in my 12th scale down here in the humid and hot temps with no problems. Carlos |
I don't know about tweaking the chassis, you can check it by placing it on a flat surface. I have been told the UV rays weaken the epoxy resin used in the plate and rather quickly too. So leaving any graphite chassis in direct sunlight for a prolonged period isn't the best idea.

If you hear a clicking sound on any corner its toast. That sound is the curled up corner bending down and hitting the surface of the tweak board. Test 2: Give the chassis a gentle longitudinal twist and repeat test one. If it was flat before and now its twisted it is toast. A chassis in good condition should always return to a dead flat state after a gentle twist. If it does not the graphite is fatigued from age, crashes, etc. |

Carlos On a side note: Get all your stuff out of your truck and bring it inside after each weekend. Heat is a killer on batteries, motors, and can dry your tires out fast. I hope you weren't leaving that stuff in your truck. How was racing this past weekend? I should be home on Sept 10/11, just in time for the series race on the 17th...I can't let Picco007 beat me because I was gone for 2 months :) Paul |
A new track is opening this fall in my area. In the past, I have seen 1/12 scale. It HAS to be the most beautiful thing ever. The cars just sweep in and out. Thus, I think I'm going to make the move.
I've looked moderately at cars, but I think have settled on a AE RC12L4. My LHS has a huge selection of AE parts. Secondly, I want to get my first kit (this will be my second car [first was a XXX-T which I race weekly]). I have done some research in general 1/12 facts, and I've come up withs some pointers. Some of my major questions are below. Feel free to add any information you feel suitable!
