WOW! It's no wonder that Nato's car is a steer monster! At the IIC last year his car had so much steering that even his inhuman skills could not get the car around the track. He qualified for the B main and bumped up to the A where I think he finished 5th. I can't even imagine trying to drive a 1/12th with a 3.5 motor and that large a tire in the front. Amazing!!

Default New 1/12 or work on the old one?

I have a CRC 3.2R Bloody Knife, it is the only 1/12 scale I have ever owned and I got back in 2006 or so when still running brushed motors and NiMH, some months ago 1/12 scale began to pick up again and I broke out the 3.2R and began racing with it, new brushless system and LiPo, and its very competitive with the fast racers, even if its a bit out-of-date.

Basically I need some opinions on whether I should stick with this old but fast car or get a new one, and what kind to get. I was leaning to a new Gen-XL or Associated R5.1, but Serpents and BMI cars also seem to be very good. Just looking for thoughts from those more knowledgeable than I.

I'd say save the $$ for travel to a big race or tires or practice time. If its working, why change?

You have a point, basically I am getting tired of fighting a chassis that wasn't meant for Lipo and Brushless, but its not such a drag and lap times are all the count... and new doesn't necessarily mean faster for the same input of time and energy.

I've seen 12L4's kick ass in the blinky class.

there is a whole new generation of car coming out. Associated has the inline R5 BK was running Sunday, SpeedMerchant has a REV 7, On Point has AE and Serpent inlines, SM has CRC and X-Ray conversions, BMI has a really radical car in the works. I think it's highly likely CRC will have some kind of update soon. I think you should wait and let the market settle and see what you like.

Oh and PS, on low bite tracks old cars often work better than the new ones, though BK was certainly quick.

Yeah, probably should wait a bit, the 1/12 scale cold war seems to be getting warm again.

12th scale is where its at these days. I like Kenny's idea of a 12th Nationals.
