Car Titles

Hello BMI,
Your new design is very interesting!!!
Have you had the chance to test it on the rug yet?
The new CF is wicked and very different. I hope it works out well for you.
It sounds like it has very promising characteristics.
I can't wait to hear what you name the car...I have a few that come to mind.
How about: J12 or JB12 --- or 2L12 or TOOL12 or TUL12 (the last 3 pronounced "Two-L-Twelve" ----OR--- JAY12 or J212 or JAIL12 or (etc. etc. etc.)
Sorry, I just like the design, that's 4sure!

Shaggy

it sounds like your front tires are getting too sticky as the run goes on.check your pod droop to make sure its no more than 1mm of up travel.i also like to run a little thicker oil in the washers.last time i ran on carpet in 19 turn i ran 5000wt. diff oil in the washers and a little on the king pins.only run 2 screws in the T plate and also check the track width on the car.you want the rear to be between 170mm and 172mm and adjust the shimming on the front wheels for the desired feel.i usually start my front at 165mm.the wider you go in the front the more it will mellow the car out.and last but not least, dont sauce the tires as long.do the full rear and the inside half of the front.only sauce for a few minutes before your race and take it off.

thanks buddy.the first and only test i have done so far was on carpet.the car worked extremely well.it was better than my T bar car for sure.especially in the bumpy sections.it seemed to carry alot of corner speed and was very easy to drive.my big test is going to be on asphalt being the lack of traction.i have always found T bar cars to accel on asphalt and i am hoping that this will also.it seems that link cars work extremely well on carpet and the few i tried on asphalt seemed to lack the steering of a T bar car.if it works on asphalt even just as good as my T bar car i will know that the new design was a success.this would mean that it will do work on all surfaces and excell at both. :)

Thanks for all the suggestions. very helpful!

Does minimizing the droop prevent too much weight from being transfered to the front end when entering the corners? If so I can see how that would help.

Also what exactly is the 5000wt oil? Brand,etc..? I have all the corrally lubes, as well as the CRC's , and Losi hydra fluids. Are any of those similiar to the 5k? Whats the theory behind the thicker lube?

Also, what are the thoughts or theorys behind the center shock angle?

Thanks for the input....any thoughts on the spring steel vs standard tbar?

impson 12-07-2006 07:32 PM

After you mentioned droop I went and over and popped my center shock off. I extended the shock past the top ball just to see how much I was running. From the center of the ball to the center of the ballcup measured 4.5 mm. I think I have been running it this way for a long time....and my car has been off for a long time. Wonder why?...hehehe

Jason I like the look of the new c/f, very high on the coolness scale. I really hope you have the complete car ready soon.

I would like to see the new BMI car combined with the steering set-up from the MS2.3A from slapmaster...illest combo ever. I like the look/design of both cars so much!

hmmmmmmmmmmm.............. :sneaky:

Yank the purple fronts and try blacks or CRC Duals. I assume you are having this trouble on carpet with something else other then Paragon.... welcome to 12th scale "lately". That's why I am building my "flex plate". It wont cure a junk car, but it will take car of the last few laps. If you are running a link car, pod droop. I have a weird theory that we need to be running an exotic at one of the car and an ecconomy tire at the other end. Be it purple/gray or black/pink. There is something about those combos that are self cleaning and prevent that tacky build up on the fronts.

if you decide you want to follow through with your new steering rack setup let me know.i can pre drill the chassis for it so if someone wants to use it the option is there for them.

I really like the look off the CF you used Jason.. The L-plates look promissing to. Will the production version have better acces for brushless motors?

Looking good!

Xray 12th

1/12th Pan Car
This move is another no brainer for Xray and whilst I know less about this rumour I can see the rise in popularity over the last few years of this class to be a major deciding factor for their entry into this form of racing. Also to be considered is that as a major player in the RC industry Xray could easily out promote the current batch of manufacturers in this class who, for the most case, are rather small players in the overall industry.

The Car
Prodution wise, the simplicity of the 1/12th electric pan cars shouldnt offer much in the way of a challenge for Xray to design and construct and if they follow the same approach into this class as with other classes then they could do quite well straight away.

The Team
Again their team of top class electric racers are a perfect fit with most of them actually racing this class but with a different manufacturer. When you consider that the 1/12th Worlds runs the week prior to the 1/10th 190mm Worlds at the same venue and that their team is present during both then you can see even more reasons for Xray to enter this class.

When?
We expect to see these cars announced in the run up to, or during, the Nurnberg toy fair in Germany at the end of January beginning February next year.
