Ok guys...new to on-road so please bear with me.
Now what is the basis for Roll-out? I really need to know the basics on this first before I try to understand the complexities to the formula.
Thanks for your time guys,
Sean

it just an equation to work out how far one turn off the motor move the car. mm per Rev it help find the ideal gear ratio to keep the car going fast without dumping at before 8 min and stop cooking the motors. beacause the cars are direct drive the final drive will the circumferance of the tyre.

diameter of tyre *Pi = circumferance (Pi = 3.141)

divided by

spur/pinion = gear ratio

Rollout is a form of gear ratio that goes a step further and takes tire diameter into account. It's basically defined as how far the car will roll with one revolution of the motor. So a car with a 1.6" rollout will go 1.6" for every revolution of the motor. As foam tires wear they get smaller and you have to go to larger pinions to keep the same rollout. I don't recall the formula off the top of my head but i'm sure someone else will chime in with it. I have rollout charts that I made in excel with the spur gear size as a constant, the pinion size on one axis, and the tire size on the other. This way you can know at a glance what rollout you are running, how much you have to change with different tires, etc. When I get home I will post my charts here.

As much as I would like to say use the Novak speedo for brushless, the LRP is about the same price and is a half ounce lighter.

From what I saw last night running the 13.5 it's about a lap faster.

Start with a 2.20 rollout on the 13.5 in 12th.
Much faster than stock from what I saw .................. Walt was ready strap in the 9x2 LOL

Glad to help!! I might be hitting you up for help with my rubber tire RDX!!!

Ray

well, Ray, sense ull be using my knowledge, let me test yours. As the track got hotter, as in up to about 130 to 140 track temps, the car started to get loose off power and started to push on power, what would you do to help this condition?

as for the RDX set up help, I know the car well, but Im a non-conformist, Im back to running my direct drive assassin

Default Slapmaster thrust kits

How much more responsive can a company be???

We were puzzling here last week about the Slapmaster thrust bearing kit working on "non-standard" axles. Today I've received the spacers cut to length for the Niftech axles I run.

WOW!!

Wish they offered more stuff so I could buy more from 'em.

Thanks Brian,

Scottrik

Scottrick,
Are those spacers going to work out for the Niftech crowd? Ironically, that discovery is going to be the springboard for the 10th scale diff thrust bearing. It looks like they are going to bolt right on so that 10th scale guys will enjoy the same benafits as us little dudes.

That's right.... 10th scale thrust bearings! Go back to work on your car, not your diff.

Hmmm... I might keep that slogan.

I still like: because you need and don't know it.
