So I did a little research on the cars, and have pretty much changed my mind to the Speedmerchant Rev 4.5. I like the lower CG rear pod, and the narrower chassis on the 4.5 over the 3.2R. Is Speedmerchant the only place to get the car or is it carried elsewhere for lower prices?

I got my Rev 4.5 from hobbyetc.com. I'm pretty sure they're the same price though.

As has been mentioned, that is not ROAR legal for ROAR sanctioned races. However, if you are on a budget and can't afford a non-reversable speedo, when you are racing at your local track, just make sure you don't use reverse. If you plan on going to a ROAR sanctioned race, then you'll need to change to a non-reversable speedo.

You should be able to make 8 minutes with it. I ran a Quantum Sport for local racing for a while and was still competitive with it and made 8 minutes. The difference in resistance in the speedos isn't that great to drastically affect run-time -- it is primarily how your car is handling and your throttle finger.

RC12 L4

apart from the chassis conversion kits out there,

are there any top plate/radio tray/damper tube kits only for the L4?

I've looked and I had to buy those pieces separately. You can purchase those items separately from either CRC or IRS.

Has any one used the Novak Super Sport Stock Brushless system on the 1/12s?

Or any brushless?

I guess I'm getting confused. First you're wondering about making run-time with one of the cheapest esc's on the planet, and one that even if you "know about the reverse curse" our club and many others (pretty much any club subscribing to ROAR rules) would not allow you to run anywhere but the novice class.

Now you're ready to step up to brushless?

Yes, I run brushless (Novak GTB/Velociti 6.5) in 1/12 mod. It can be done.

For your own sake I'd say you need to get VERY clear in your mind (and budget) with what you're expecting out of your racing program because you've proposed two very different routes in two days. Not being flippant--I'm trying to get you to take a very serious look at your racing program.

This is the BEST thread on RCtech-always helpful people and only the occasional hijacking or argument (link vs t-bar, CRC vs SM, LOL).

Glad to help!! I might be hitting you up for help with my rubber tire RDX!!!

I hope this clears it up a little....
Not really 2 routes but looking at all my options..
I got the "cheap" ESC for nothing and was wondering if it was worth the time or trouble to install it after hearing both good/bad things about it. I really don't want to use the LRP but I've got to replace an ESC ( I fried one of my GMVCS12 on my Xray T2 last Saturday and moved the VCS12 from the 1/12 to the xray for the rest of the races) but want to look at all my options.

The track I race at is having a 10 race point series ( Electric 10 and 12 scale classes ) and brushless is allowed for the 1/12 class. I've been looking at Brushless systems for a while and this might be the opportunity to get into that type of system. I want to keep all options open....

THX for the info Scottrik,

Hey Ray,
do you have any idea of what roll out to run 9turn or 10 turn on the gate track for 1/12 scale?

I'll ask paul and get back to you, but I think i ran 1.68" with a 9x2. I prefer when I run mod to be geared very high and roll the throttle everywhere.

If you're running a series that allows brushless in stock 12th get the 13.5 motor. The 13.5 is faster than stock in 12th.

As much as I would like to say use the Novak speedo for brushless, the LRP is about the same price and is a half ounce lighter.

From what I saw last night running the 13.5 it's about a lap faster.

Start with a 2.20 rollout on the 13.5 in 12th.

You can get the CRC #1328 Uni-Tune suspension kit, which contains the tubes, top plate, cross brace and hardware. It also has the parts to convert the car to side springs, like a 3.2 or T-Fource.
