Default Setup for err.. Axis 1 ... :-)

Howdy folks,

I decided I'd give a shot to electric TC again after a 2.5 year hiatus ... not sure I'm ready to dump lots of cash in the hobby yet, hence I figured out I'd just put my old trustworthy Axis 1 back on track, and if I get a good feeling about the local racing scene, then I might upgrade to a more recent car...

In the meantime, anybody's got a good setup for this car, with foamies, on a high grip indoor asphalt track? It's quite a technical layout, but still the fast guys are running one ways... I'll run the center one way. I'll attach a couple of pics of my car and the track...

Thanks for the help,

Lonestar

Well guys I'm on page 3 of the manual for building the mission About the shocks, I'm gonna try using the schu pistons and was wondering is there any other way to bleed the oil outta these shocks. Measuring 7mm from the piston to the cartridge is kinda tough. I'm not really getting all of the shocks to have the same consistency with the pressure, some have more pressure while others have less. The shocks use the same kind of system AE uses for their tc3's and I eliminated that by using the yok bleeder screw shock caps on my ntc3, all the shocks have the same consistency now, run after run. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Dan- here's the beauty of Schumacher tourers.... since the suspension geometry has been unchanged from the first car you can start with a suitable Mission set-up and should be very close.

Proudwinner.....You can bleed air in the shock through the cartridge. What you have to do is pull the shock shaft to one side of the shock and you will see all the air and some oil escape. I use this method and it works well for getting the shocks the same.....it takes some practice but once you master it it works very well.

Dan O......You might want to look into getting the 99 hub conversions for the car that you have. The 98 had smaller wheel bearings and press on hexes as well as using a more off set rim ie the 185 rim I belive. Schumacher did sell a conversion set that gives you new hubs, axles and dog bones, bigger bearings(that last longer then the smaller ones) and hexes like we use now with the pin and rims with the correct offset. What I always ran on my 99 car was #2 hole pistons all the way around with 50 to 60 wt oil and blue or red springs and the shocks in the inner holes on the towers and that should get you started.

Proud- Push the shaft all the way up ( where the ball cup is touching the deal on the shock(think its called the shock housing) then insert the shaft in there and screw in.some oil and air will come out but this methed has always worked for me

proudwinner - Darkseid posted a thing on how to build and bleed the mission shocks quite a few pages back. Do a search on it and it should come up. I use his method and it seems to be working really well for me. If you can't find it then just send Darkseid a PM and ask him how he does them. Hope that helps.

Can someone help with shock postions. When I lay the shock down you get more side bite right? and stand them up more coner speed? How do I know when to change this. Like if it....then....also for same question on when to chnge springs. I have been changing springs when the car pushes I go softer in the front and stuff like that?

Thanks for the help,
drew

When you stand the shocks up (outer holes) you will get more initial grip, but the tires will break away much quicker and with less warning. The suspension will feel stiffer.

Laying the shocks down (inner holes) will yeild the opposite, less overall grip, but more controllable breakaway. The suspension will feel softer.
