I had the front and rear aluminium diff holders on tamiya installed a couple of months ago and theres this lil plastic c thing that goes on the dogbone so as to protect the diff outdrives but however i ran out of the plastic C and am looking for another option as i dont find it anywhere at the LHS.

Direct Drive - Steering Vibration
Hi there,
Am having a problem with my v2, and hope you guys can shed some light..
I am having a steering vibration (only when wheels are either pointing left or right) when throttle is up to about 3/4... with the direct drive (front spool).
When I had the diffs or the front one-way, there was no such problem.
I have the universal shafts on my car.
when i took the wheels off and tested it again, there was no noticeable vibration!! put the wheels back on, and there it (vibration) was. 'Rotated' wheels (front and back)... same problem.
Again, the problem is there with the direct drive and wheels pointing either left or right... when the wheels are pointing str8, no vibration.
Hope u guys can help
thanks

thanks for the quick reply... but...
a. wheels pointing either left or right does not refer to full-lock... i estimate it to anywhere between 10% to 100% of steering.
b. the direct spool is new.. so the outdrives are new.. my universals are new too.. got them both on Friday..
Do you have any other thoughts on the matter? I've tried everything i could think of..

The solution was to use a shorter shaft... apparently, the TB03 manual recommends a 44mm or 42mm shaft.
What does the length of the shaft have to do with the vibrations experienced? Do u guys think that this is a possible solution?

Posting on behalf of a friend of mine, any ideas how to mount twin cooling fans for the motor? I personally do not own a TA05 chassis and therefore appreciates any ideas on this matter... The more the merrier as the saying goes...
Oh and it would be best with pictures for examples too...

Sorry don't have any pics, but to get this strap to fit properly around the motor in my ta05 (original version, not the v.2), I ground down the chassis about a 1mm underneath the motor where you will be locating the strap, so that the motor is not forced off axis... clear?

After installing the aluminium diff holder, i realise there is a slight play from left to right and these applies on the front and rear as well. Anyone have the same problem ?
#734
Yes I also had that, you just need to put 2 x 0.1 shims between the 1510 bearing and the diff outdrive and the play should be gone.
