Well im actually doing the next best thing. When i got my TC3 second hand it came with a new chassis, so ill mill that one and set up the swing rack and see what happens. Ill leave the current chassis as is (only mod is the battery closer to the centre line and opened the motor cooling opening)

Chassis stiffeners? i was meaning the four in the corners. i replaced the tc3 ones with the tc4 ones. I noticed it all fits, but its a better fit to use the tc4 suspension mounts, as the tc3 ones come close to the upper link ball connector. Looks like my GTB has arrived, so ill be putting that in at the track tonight. Im trying the car on old hard foams so im not expecting anything spectacular, but should be decent.

Can I get a little clarification on the standard way of building plastic TC3 shocks?

I'm doing some work on a friend's TC3, which looks like an early Racer edition.

At some point somebody has messed around with the spacers inside the shock, and I am trying to set it right.

The online manual suggests there should be none, but the expoded diagram suggests there should be two slim spacers in each shock.

Which is it please?

The spacers in the shocks were most likely there to set the droop. If the chassis has droop tabs take out the spacers from the shocks and set the droop from the a-arms, if not then you'll need someone elses help cuz I've never set my droop with shock spacers... sorry I couldn't be more help...good luck

Are you supposed to loosen the motor mount locknuts on the underside of the chassis before installing a motor in the TC3?

No. The locknuts stay in the chassis. To install the motor you simply loosen the two screws on top of the motor mount (the two screws that actually go into the locknuts.)

I always ran mine to the front...only rarely did I hear of people running it to the rear (the FT graphite tube thing that takes the place of the foam is a good idea too, that way you'll never smash that foam into your spur gear after forgetting to turn at the end of the straight hehehe)

ive never driven with them forward as i prefer an under steering car, a oversteering car annoys the $%^ out of me, as it keeps spinning. I start with understeer, and progressively dial in more steering until im able to put the car where i want.

But im still fairly new to the TC3, so i may try them forward and see what it feels like. Tried mine with the new GTB last night (arrived yesterday afternoon). Stacks of power, and considering the TC3 was handling like a pig, the very smooth throttle response made it relatively easy to drive. Got some good laptimes in too. Ill be doing a complete strip and rebuild next week. Ive found the rear diff starts to slip a little after a few minutes of hard driving with the GTB on carpet. But so far, im happy :D

do any of you guys have any tips for rebuilding the plastic diffs...?

As far as I can tell Associated only sells CARBIDE 3/32" diff balls
which go for $12 a bag. Little steep for my budget. Losi sells plain steel 3/32" diff balls for about $1.50 a bag. Thats about the only tip Ive got.

How much better are carbide diff balls than steel diff balls? Which ones last alot longer?

I have a tc3 that I am selling if anyone is interested. It has many many spare parts, a stock motor, and I keep it in very good shape. I have put a lot of work into it to make it very competitive. whats a quick and easy way to set up a TC3 for tarmac drift fun, just messin around not hardcore stuff sumone told me soft front springs, no toe in?

well yes but not really what it is to be is you want the front to be softer then the rear but doent mean like real soft and for the toe in you can have a little but i dont use any :smile:
