Now I have some other questions ;).Is it better to use the Long RPM ball cups or are the short ones ok too?
Are also the lunsford hinge pins recommendable or are the polished ones from associated ok too?

Could somebody tell me, why I haven't seen the top drivers like Barry Baker oder Juho Levanen taking the hot motor out of their car, or do they?

When using the long Ballcups, you can not use them for the steering linkages, only camber tierods will fit these cups. You could cut the RPM cups to fit the shorter tierods, but slightly less durable.

The Factory Team hingepins seem to slide easier, and bind less. I do not know if Lunsford makes hingepins for the TC3....

The drivers might leave the motor in because it is hot? Maybe for another race, leave the car on a fan, then pop it out? Not sure... :weird:

yup Lunsford makes hingepins, and they rule! :nod: I put them on my TC3 and haven't bent one since!:D

This Question has probably been asked a billion times, but i am going to ask anyways. I want to calculate the speed of my TC3. I was trying to do a Distance divided by time equation. But i know i am missing something, something like the weight or friction. Can someone help.

Schumacher makes ballcups that work VERY well. They are grey in color, long and thick like the RPM cups, but are thinner at the top of the cup for wheel clearance. Since Schumacher builds all of thier cars to metric proportions, the cups fit metric balls. When placed on our SAE balls, on a TC3, the "grippa" cups are very tight, hard to put on (or pop off), but very free and non-binding.

As far as turnbuckles go, Lunsford should be your choice. The AE turnbuckles look pretty, for those of you who like a "factory car", but the Lunsford turnbuckles come with a bend/replace policy. If you bend 'em, you either need to whoop the A$$ of the dude that hacked ya, or start racing in open parkinglots. :sweat: But at least you can send the bent one in, and get a new one back, for the cost of shipping. As a side note, the above mentioned items combined make for a VERY solid link from hub to shock tower. Matter of fact, a good friend of mine bent an aluminum hub carrier, before the Lunsford turnbuckle/grippa ballcup gave way. :weird: :D

I agree with Dave. The Schumacher ball cups are excellent and a good fit for the TC3.

I fit them on almost all my customer cars.

Definately a recommended mod.

I assume you are trying to determine the top speed. To do this all you need is a stop watch and a sufficiently long stretch of road. Set up a speed trap where the entrance (point of start timing) and the end (point where timing stops) are 44 feet apart. Give the car a running start of atleast 100 feet before the speed trap to ensure that it is topped out. If it takes 1 second to cover the 44 foot distance your car is going 30 MPH. 1/2 a second and it's going 60 MPH. Better yet here is a table.. have fun

anyone have a good starting set up for tc3 asphalt w/foam tires?

I had a TC3 once. Got my ass wipped by HPI Pros 2 and 3s. So I got rid of it, bought a HPI sport 2 and converted it into a Pro2.




Then the strangest thing happend........

They got freaking fast!

Now I want another one, but after I get an R40.

Try the HPI Pro 4, very nice choice for an HPI Car.

Would like to, but I want the R40. besides doesn't The Pro4 looks like a highly modified TC3?

It's not the car. It's the driver and how you set the car up.

Yup! you said it right bro and addition to that top of the line electronics its a factor to consider in terms of top end speed. :nod: :cool:
