HeY!!!

I'm sure they will be testing it out again this weekend at ROAR nats if they do have a new chassis design, etc.

One-way maintenance

How do you maintain your one-way diff? Does it require re-greasing all the time?

Nightbreed 03-27-2004 01:26 AM

YES...I hope so...

I just wish they would say, "AE is currently testing new updated parts for the TC3." :D

that would be nice to hear:tire: :tire:

Driven when i used to have a TC3 back in the days of 99-2001 i only greased it the first time i put it in my car and never did after that....i never had problems with it either but im sure it wold be better to grease it more often then i did . . . maybe every couple weeks ?

I would think that best would be to re-grease the one-way at about the same time you rebuild your shocks, or when ever you feel as though the outdrives bind somewhat in the housing. The Heavy Duty one-way seems less susceptible to binding because of how thick the outdrive's are. The older one-way may need a little bit more attention to keep "one-waying".

Can I use motor cleaner to remove old grease out?

use wd-40 first then the motor cleaner, so you won't use much of the mtr cleaner!

chassis balancing

i'm trying to balance my chassis, and its too heavy on the battery side (and about 1/2 pound heavier than ROAR minimum weight), and i've already dremeled the chassis to move the batteries in, and am using the graphite battery bar. any suggestions on hoy to lighten the battery side and balance the car?

Remove the spur gear and dremel some of the stiffening material away from under the spur gear. Use a slighty larger spur gear ( I run a 75 tooth 48p gear instead of 72) This way to get the same gear ratio, you will use a larger pinion as well, therefore moving the motor just a bit more away from centerline, counterbalancing the battery. Thay way you are not adding weight, just re-balancing the weight that you HAVE to have in there.

Carpet TC3 setups. Right i need a better setup than what im running at the moment, i currently run the stock springs and allmost everything at default with some 28mm jaco spec blue foams and the shocks laid right down with the rear tower on the front. The car seems very stable maybe a touch slow in the twisties, can someone give me a point in the right direction, trying stiffer spings just seemed to lose me grip and time.

After I did the battery mod to my chassis it only took 14 grams of weight on the right side to balance it out perfectly.

Can you run any other tires? If possible, switch to Jaco dbl pink orange/ dbl pinks. Last time I ran, we had a new layout which was pretty flowing, and traction was low. I ended up with purple/red, front tower w/ outer hole, rear tower middle. The car was awesome, but would probably only be on this track. I would try purple/copper springs as a good general place to start.

Hey all,

I got this from BMI mostly to hold my PT in place nicely and to keep my body posts from bending back, but low and behold-I didnt realize this also keep the RPM bumper up. Its like viagra for bumpers!!!

HOpefully I wont have to replace the otherwise perfect RPM bumper every two or three months since its draggin the carpet.
