Hi guys. Greetings from Malta.
Buda, Being in England you shouldn't find any difficulty getting stuff for TC3s. I have most items in stock in my store but I'm miles away. I've sold quite a few TC3s so I keep a good stock of bits, especially since son Josh runs one too. If you're still stuck, ket me know. Regards Joe from sunny.....but cold Malta. |
Shaft
As Tony will agree, the car requires no upgrades beyond the addition of a front one-way for ruber tire racing. In comparison testing, no aftermarket shaft was as light as the stock shaft. The Niftech Ti was the closest we could find. This means that any shaft you put in will increase rotating mass and thus reduce acceleration.

yea thats my thoughts too If I am going to loose weight it will be from rotating mass and if I need to add it will be to structeral components

Question...i have started running my tc3 on Ozite w/rubber tires, and it is hooking coming into sharp corners...i have been running on high traction asphault w/ no problems...so i didnt make many changes...settings...droop 6fr./4rr.......r.h.-5mm......(sw iwc shocks)40wt.fr./30rr........copper fr./red rr......batt. back......links-up and in......shocks in on top....sway bar on front.....any suggestions:confused: thanks

Well using the losi shocks really changes the damping because the pistons are 3 hole, so that makes it really hard to judge. But I think you need to try some heavier oil. Red and Copper springs are in the ball park too.

Dragonslayer,
For your setup on carpet, change your springs to Gold up front, and Blue in the back. Run your battery forward, with the foam spacer in the back slot, and put the swaybar on the rear while removing the swaybar from the front. Your tires will make a considerable difference on carpet. I suggest you run Sorex 24 at all four corners, or even 20 on the back. Why are you running the SW IWC shocks on your car? Your oil is right on, but I wouldn't have any clue what piston you are running. If you were running the TC3 shocks, just run the #2 pistons. This should help considerably! Greg |
first race
well dudes Sun will be my first race and here is what I will use for my set ups approximately..
It is on Astro turf they run the Scumacher mini pins at the track. I will start with the stock set ups but will drop ride hight to 5mm I only have the 40 wt. oil so I will have to go with that since the track is smooth I may try going up 1 spring on fnt and rear I will also be running a 17x3 which is about normal for the track unless you are really good since it is a bit small and usually twisty If anyonbe has raced astro tuf b4 do you have any set up ideas or am i on the right track? I also have the roll bars to help dial out/in front or rear traction as needed. or do you tgink I should run them both ends people also tend to traction roll there sometimes. |
The reason for the SW shocks is i got the tc3 team kit, therefore i didnt have the threaded shock bodies, since i already had the sw-iwc so i just swapped shocks...i noticed the losi pistons have larger holes,i'm guessing to get the same dampning i would have to go to thicker oil.
Greg... the manual says batt forward=more front traction and sway bar on rear= more front traction....i need rear end traction. I've had the sw shocks on the tc3 for awhile and have had no problem with traction on other surfaces with 40 fr./30 rr.(oil).... on the Ozite it just acted like a different car????? Thanks for the help |
Usually with carpet you run thicker oil than on asphalt.

Dragon > I think you set up is to soft. When i was racing on carpet i had the AE White Springs in front and Golds in the Rear. Thicker Oil is needed as well. Get rid of the Losi stuff as well
Also check out this website, www.competitionx.com, TP has a basic carpet set-up that should get you going. Also, i am sure AE site has a carpet set-up as well. |

Originally posted by Dragon Slayer Greg... the manual says batt forward=more front traction and sway bar on rear= more front traction....i need rear end traction. Moving the battery forward will often keep the rear end from swinging around......like pendelum effect. If the rear end is too soft, adding a swaybar will keep it from 'dumping over' and breaking loose. |
 Doh!!! thanks big dog, i wonder how that got there.
