Hi guys. Greetings from Malta, and Happy new year.
Somebody asked about my real race car. Well it's the one just alongside. It's a spaceframe Mini. It has a 1400cc twin cam, 16 valve KAD engine with billet steel crank, titanium rods, dog box, LSD the lot. Suspension is all independent with coil over shocks all round, and fully adjustable. In fact I took another one out of the RC book when setting it all up. I made up a set of set up wheels, just like I have for RC, and I think I now have it set up far better than it has ever been. My brother and I have been into racing for decades. David presently races a 2 litre F3 March single seater, but I have always stuck with exotic Mini lookalikes. There is actually very little Mini about them except the plastic shell, but it's fun beating the bigger cars with a car that externally looks like a Mini. And in any case I enjoy working on them. I had great plans for New Year's Day. I was hoping to go out for a ride with my 1200 Suzuki Bandit in the morning, then to the track to play RC in the afternoon. The weatherman had other ideas so instead I spent the day in the garage with son Josh, wiring up his car. The weather's great today because I'm stuck in the office. Sod's law. Regards Joe from sunny Malta. |
SoCal Tires/Inserts
Tony,
So what is the current tire/insert setup for SoCal with the weather cooled down? We're thinking about coming over Jan 11-13th. I'll let you know when we have a confirmation. Brent |
Well, up until a couple weeks ago, we were using Sorex 32/36R with HPI Green/Red inserts.
I've been out of the loop for a couple weeks (due to the holidays and my moving living locals). I should be getting back into the swing sometime soon!!!! I would assume that tire setup should still work, although you might try Yoke firm Sprints with Yoke firm/med inserts. You might also try 138G's, also. I'll have probably next week. I should head back to SoCal around the 12th. |
Thinking about breaking out the tc3 to try on carpet. Does anyone have a good starting point? Rubber tires, ozite carpet?
Thanks!! |
I agree with Tony, Sorex are still the Hot Set-Up but the Sprints really worked on Saturday.
TP > What motor would you recomend for the TC3 Nitro? And what elese would you recomend for it? |
wouold 70 weight shockoil be good for carpet?
|
Hey guys its been a long time since i been on here anyone here have a RTR TC3 what do u think about it?
|
I work in a LHS and can tell you that they RTR TC3 is a great car.
|
TypeS- on carpet with foams, I run 80wt in the front, 60wt in the back. But it also depends on what springs you run. I am running Yokomo blacks up front and yellows in the rear, which are about the same as Associated white/purple. If you run lighter springs you may be able to run lighter oil. But 70wt should get you close with some firm springs.
The RTR TC3 is a really good car. It is basically an assembled Racer kit, which is a good car in its own right. |
